GMI March sales up 76%

General Motors India (GMI) said today its sales grew by 76% in March 2004 over the same month last year due to rising sales of 'Chevrolet Optra'.

GMI sold 2,605 units during March as compared to 1,479 units in the same month last year, a company statement said.

The Indian arm of the world's biggest carmaker sold 1,470 units of premium mid-size car 'Chevrolet Optra' in March, an increase of 114% over February 2004.

Sales of 'Opel Corsa' grew by 36.5% to 2,442 units during the quarter ended March 2004 against 1,788 units during the year-ago period.

Wow, a whole 2K units! We have individual dealerships that do that in a month. That's 2K cars in the WHOLE country. Big Deal. Well, at least we got back a few grand of the millions spent on outsourcing American jobs. Whith the trade deficit we have with India, you'd think they buy a few hundred thousand more.
