A five passenger Volt, a little Bolt, and four more production vehicles confirmed for Chevrolet this year.

A great morning at GM for sure.

dang as I was reading the title I got my hopes up that all of these cars were coming this year, not just being revealed! oh well. some of these could be revealed in LA this fall... and then another year or so until production... we might be waiting a while for a couple of them.
Re: GM Exec Confirms "5 In 15"; New Volt, Cruze, Malibu, Camaro & Spark Reveal This Y

that's not a 5 passenger... even for emergency's sake.
Re: GM Exec Confirms "5 In 15"; New Volt, Cruze, Malibu, Camaro & Spark Reveal This Y

As we know, the safest place for a child seat is in the center of the rear seat.

NG Volt owners using a child seat now have a new mounting option, and one less negative for a Volt purchase.

Far better than what the current Volt has.

That is the biggest reason I've heard of for people not purchasing, they wanted or needed that 5th seatbelt.

That is about the only real benefit; let’s hope they planned for that..........

On the Malibu and Impala it’s got 5 anchors, but it doesn't seem to be designed well, if you center mount a car seat you basically intrude on one of the outboard seats and then only one additional person can sit back there.

IMHO the center seat has been a bit of a red herring, someone with an ass small enough to sit in the center, is small/young enough that they need to be in some sort of car/booster seat, which is bigger and takes up more than that 1/2 cushion, they call a center seat.

Well, GM is at it again. We all know this, but the way they go about it reminds me of an 80s song: "You keep me hangin on". :D

Reality is that if your even 6 ft tall a child seat in the center will not allow much leg room.

Guys, this is a compact car. How big do you expect them to make the middle seat in the back?

So, we've already got the Volt. so we're down to 4 more to be revealed. Will any more of these be revealed in Detroit?

I still can't believe they are going to call the all electric model the Chevy Bolt. Hard to take a company seriously when it does something so idiotic. Is the next model going to be called the Dolt?

There is more on the Bolt a moment ago: The "$30,000" price is now clarified to read "Around $30,000 after tax incentives", thus the Bolt will sticker for at least $37,500.

I think it's an issue of "perception is reality." When they see it definitely only has 4 seats it's instantly crossed off the consideration list. When they see there's at least an option of 5 passengers it psychologically opens the door. Now, whether the center seat is usable or not I don't know. I can tell you that my Fusion company car has a pretty narrow middle rear seat but it's been very handy when my girls have a friend over and we're going out for ice cream or whatever. If I had a Volt I couldn't even make that trip with 5 of us.

Can't believe that you find a name associated with a lightening bolt (purest form of energy) for an all electric car is idiotic...but then again I don't understand much of what you say.

Anyone one else surprised at how fast the new Mailbu is going to be here? Lots figured it would be a 17 MY car but its looking like itll be a 16 at least.

Beats the hell out of "Cascada."

No. The current Malibu was stillborn and Chevy had to completely redo it immediately.

I had indicated a long time ago, (Fall 2013) that it was the next Epsilon to get updated, but since it just got the re-fresh everyone dismissed it.

Even I thought the LaCrosse and Malibu would switch places, looks like the original plan is still on track.
