I think there's something to be said for a designer who cares how she looks. When you want a hot rod with a flame job you go to a guy who looks like the Fonz or a WWE reject with tattooed flames on his arms. When you want a stylish, sleek car, you go to...Vicki. :)

Let the geeks at GM who look like geeky engineer types or 50 year old men with beer bellies do the underpinnings, engines, transmissions, components, etc. Leave the styling up to someone like this. Again, someone who cares about how things look and what is fashionable and what is not.

I'm not saying a great designer can't look like a slob, but still...when it comes to what is current and hot, I'd rather have someone with a finger on the pulse of today's styling.

She's cute, brainy, but somewhat lacking in common sense. How else could someone being involved in the design of a car w/o a trunk be labelled?
Maybe she designed the Solstice after herself, including the cute little trunk!

I was just thinking that - the car looks alot like her.

Also I don't agree that "practicality doesnt count". A roadster doesnt need to carry a set of golf clubs but it has to have dirty weekend viability - at least space in the trunk for a change of clothes

hmmm interesting I just wonder what valet she was standing outside where everyone was eating raw carp and driving these bmw's and benz back and forth.............A few years ago I noticed at the valet I was at that they were eating steak and driving hummer's and stretch limos back and forth from the valet....... a few people screwed up the scenerio by driving up in a Ferrari of Lambo.

You guys always go crazy over ugly woman on this board but now you have a hot one. I love the legs shot I was like hummmm not to bad.

This seems like an appropriate thread, for this posting. I live near the plant, where Solstice/SKY are produced. A few weeks ago, when there was a rare, pleasant Saturday morning, I found myself facing a convoy of the sexy GM roadsters. There must be some sort of Solstice/SKY car club, which meets at the plant. There were maybe 30 of both cars coming up the road, toward me. It was quite an amazing sight, to see these cars, with license plates from all over America. It is nice to see such enthusiasm, so early, for these cars.
I've seen a group like that too around the plant. The group I saw was maybe 20 cars total but still pretty cool seeing the cars ride in a pack like that. Seemed like they were heading to the plant, so maybe they were meeting up with more.

do you guys think i have a chance with her? i mean she is older, but I can use her to get to her boss, who i would convince to give me a design job.

screw $16000/semester tuition for Art Center College of Design, I like this way better.

Hooray, design more cars in California. After all no one in the Great Midwest can design cars.

GM, remember where you started, why move jobs outside Michigan?

That would be up to engineering, not design.

I'd be more concerned about her professional credibility if they keep trotting her out as a sex symbol. But this is clearly a conscious effort to get GM some good press.

I don't think she had a large role in these cars. How long had they been out when we first heard of her? I believe it was Iacocca who once said that every success in Detroit has dozens of fathers (and mothers, it seems), while every failure is an orphan.

OLDER?!?!?!?!?!
DUDE! She's 34.... not 54!
I'm 31 and still feel like I just graduated from my art school (Art Institute of Pittsburgh) and that was 10 years ago this week!!!!!!

It's not about age. She is prime and perfect at 34. And how many hot shot designers do you know in their early to mid 20's? Not many IF any at all.... you have to cut your teeth before you can take a bite out of that big juicy steak for the first time.

I know you're being facetious, but that is exactly what GM needs to do -- design for CA. every new trend starts here.
If you can't cater to the CA market, then you might as well call it quits.

As a fellow midwesterner, I agree with your sarcastic statement. Michigan is a pit. Detroit hasn't been a trend-setting city since the 1960s.
