LOL! Smilingoat! Perhaps what is so sad is that there will be enough fools that will line up to buy this that the Toyota dealer will feel obliged to tack on a second sticker adding $1500 market adjustments for the privilege of owning one of these eyesores.
Typical bland Toyota crap that'll sell on the Maytag plan. Toyota does not have the product to justify their dominance of the market. Takes product, not just quality. Makes no sense.
I'm pretty sure this is taller than the Matrix - it's meant to compete with the Ford Focus C-MAX, VW (Golf-based) Touran, Opel (Astra-based) Zafira, etc. in Europe
What's so bad about the design besides the bump on the hood? What would you all want a Toyota to look like? The awesome-looking Malibu??? 'Nuff said. If you want a good looking car, but something else. But for those who want the room...well then that's why they buy this.
Point is: people buying this car are mainly in it for passenger space and versatility...NOT STYLE!
I agree this is "actively hideous" (not just the usual Toyota boringly ugly). Some of the cars in this class are starting to look pretty nice (e.g. the new Ford/Mazda twins).
Looks like toyota took the voltz (Pontiac Vibe) and slammed it into an Ugly-Wall (Just a really big *** ugly stick) and this is what happened. The Hockey-stick D-pillar is a Vibe transplant...its quite obvious...
