WASHINGTON - The national retail price for gasoline jumped 3.5 cents a gallon over the last week to an average $1.595 a gallon, the highest in four months, the U.S. government said on Tuesday.

The average cost for regular unleaded gasoline is up 13.6 cents from this time a year ago, according to a weekly survey of gasoline stations by the Energy Department's Energy Information Administration.

The recent surge at the pump has pushed gasoline to its highest level since Sept. 22, 2003 when the average cost was $1.643, the EIA said.

I just paid $1.899 for Supreme Unleaded at Shell in SF.
Most other gas stations are at around $2.029-2.179 or so.

Just paid .794/l here in Canada = 3.005/ US gallon.
yep, that's about $2.31 USD a gallon...what sucks is when the gas price is 0.81 cents a litre and you need 100 litres...ouch...$81 could have gotten me 2 1/2 cases of beer...

I look at it this way: we have to have gas for vehicles, mowers, and etc, so that is why I don't grip about prices...since we have to have it ;)

In October of 2001 gas around here was about $4.00 per gallon ;)
