Just ran across a GM EDGE magazine at my local dealer. It was the December 2003 issue. Page 7 listed the SEMA show highlights and the following;

"As Cowger spoke, his words were accompanied by an impressive drive-by of the Cadillac CTS-V, Pontiac Bonneville GXP, and Saturn Ion Red Line, doing hot laps around the track's road course. Then, to Cowger's words, "what's next from GM's Performance Division? We're just getting started," the Chevrolet Trailblazer SS - which Cowger announced will go into production as a 2006 model - pulled onto the track to lead the parade."

I hope GWI guru's can confirm this...and that all of you that know of a dealership or have a friend there can take a look at the December issue of GM EDGE magazine (for GM Dealers) can confirm it. Me holding the copy in my hand (without a scanner of course) really doesn't help the proof concept.

I only hope that they keep the 6.0 V8 for the Trailblazer SS as depicted in Motortrend a while ago.

Cheers :D

John Moss and GM Performance had the Trailblazer SS, Tahoe SS, and the Suburban SS Lucchese on display on the 2003 Hot Rod Power Tour. The Trailblazer and Tahoe had the 345 hp 6.0 and the Suburban had a massaged 8.1. Couldn't get the HP numbers on the 8.1. Original idea for Trailblazer SS motor was a twin turbo 4.2 I-6 with 400 hp. Not sure what happened to that one. GM saving money by leveraging assets across vehicle lines as usual. That's why there isn't more widespread use of the CTS 3.6 w/260 hp. A variable valve timing, DOHC V-6 would look nice in some other platforms. Like an Impala SS, or Monte Carlo SS, or the new Equinox or the Uplander or Malibu SS.
