Saw this at Autonews.com - sorry no link (registered users only):
I thought this was the GM-Ford 6 speed we read about months ago, but it's for RWD cars, trucks, & SUVs, not FWD cars. Interesting. Is GM working on something like this?
Any chance of a 6-speed in a Suburban any time soon? <_<

DETROIT (Reuters) -- Ford Motor Co. on Thursday said it will spend $325 million to build six-speed automatic transmissions.The transmissions are designed for rear-wheel-drive cars and trucks, such as SUVs, and promise a 4 percent to 8 percent improvement in fuel economy.
