The Jalopnik satellite in geosynchronous orbit over the COBO center in Detroit sent us a very interesting image tonight: a plan of the layout of Ford's booth, which includes a large display area for Ford performance vehicles, and at the center is a car named Phoenix. Right next to it, in a smaller area, is the Hummingbird. What are they?3

So far, there's no references to any Ford concepts called the Phoenix or Hummingbird (1 and 2), so it should be pretty exciting to see what these turn out to be. We know Ford is planning a return to motorsport, and that return could very likely feature a new Ford GT. Phoenix would certainly be an appropriate name for a new Ford GT (likely in concept form), rising out of the ashes of its GT 40 and GT predecessors, so I'm hopeful that's what this flaming bird

If it's coming to Detroit, Phoenix is the GT. Name and physical position at the booth betray its importance and character.

Hummingbird, the article explains is likely the GT350R.

Also, to whoever was being a tool about "but there's no Raptor on sale nooooow!", feast your eyes.

Saw this at FIN:

I am guessing Ford GT and GT350R.

EDIT

From the Lincoln LS Club:

According to Robert Lane at Blue Oval Forums - who works for Shelby America in addition to running the website - we are not going to see the GT350R track version yet. That comes later.

What we'll see is the GT350 "XR" - with the X being replaced by some other letter. I'm guessing KR based on Shelby mustangs of the past. This will be an even hotter street car than the GT350.

Phoenix is the GT, the bird is the new hotter a GT350, and the rest. It's going to be q great year for NAIAS.
Now, could they get a pic of the GM booths?
Phoenix has a Ford GT and a Ford GT40 MKIV within close proximity. Draw your own conclusions.
Hummingbird 2 may be the focus RS
Article says Hummingbird was an internal name or a nickname for the GT350, but I guess that's possible, too. Wasn't it supposed to debut here?

Are you talking about this individual?

"Meanwhile" being present tense, there is currently no Raptor being made.

Exactly. I'm saying the probability of the Raptor coming on line next year and the Zr2 coming on line next year is roughly equal.
Just thought it was funny someone would put "Meanwhile...RAPTOR" even though meanwhile means, literally 'as of now' and as of now there is no raptor. I never 'pretended' there would never be another raptor. It's just: Fact: there is no '15 raptor.
I had to go back and look it up.

I have a neighbor, he's working on the Infiniti booth(s) this year, I wouldn't ask him for anything that would jeopardize his employment, but if he was to offer............... :ponder:

(I don't see him much this time of year though.........)

Interesting, looking at the floor-plan, Buick is now by Cadillac/Infiniti/Acura, (took Subaru) last year Buick was "in the corner".

Here is 2014's for reference: http://www.inautonews.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/2014-NAIAS-Floor-Plan.jpg

Looks like LR/Jag got a better spot this year too, main isle across from Porsche (they took part of the Fiat/Chrysler booth)

Fingers crossed for this and that its AWD. Then maybe GM will get its head out of its ass in this segment.

But... its likely to be another boring-as-hell pony car that you can't drive w/o voiding the warranty.

Even when Ford shows the Raptor, no new ones will be built that day, ready for purchase. I didn't see him say that Ford would never build another Raptor.

isnt the phoenix a pontiac name?
Yeah, even if Ford wanted to use the name on a production car, I don't see GM trying to sue to stop them.

Right... and it'll be build before a ZR2.

Now, you are starting to sound like him............

He basically said the odds are even, we all know the Raptor is coming back, the ZR2 is still on spread-sheets, graphs, studies, focus groups, opinion polls and wet dreams........

Phoenix is a "code-name" its an internal name that everyone (internally) knows what everyone else (internally) taking about, without saying the name, for example, "Project Everest" is something I'm working on, it means nothing to you, but everyone involved knows exactly what I'm talking about, and if the word "Project Everest" got in the wrong hands, no harm is done.

I think I have heard rumors of it being AWD... I really hope so 350 HP to the front wheels hurts my head.
