Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen after a 9 year hiatus Ford Motor Company vehicles will be returning to Los Angeles County beaches. To start out Ford and it's ad agency are donating 45 Escape Hybrids to the LA County Fire Department Lifeguard division to replace the current Nissan products in exchange for becoming the official sponsors of the LA County lifeguards. The contract runs from now until 2012 with 2 possible 4 year extensions.

Apparently all the manufacturers including the previous sponsor, Nissan, were asked to bid but only Ford responded. Good for them!

It's called FFL.

The Escape hybrid makes perfect sense.
Heck, it is used as a New York taxi cab, so it should be tough enough for sand.
