Following the Buick Cascada and Avenir reveals, what's the plan for the Envision?

The topics here on GMI relating to the forthcoming Buick Cascada and the stunning Buick Avenir concept have been active, reflecting enthusiasm for the Buick brand -- when there is some actual product news to discuss.

I have seen no mention of the Buick Envision, which many had expected to be revealed at the NAIAS.

Does anyone know anything specific regarding the production vehicle's first public appearance and anticipated on-sale date?

Supposed to be this fall. Chicago and NY are next. They might just try to spread it out so it doesn't get lost in the Avenir spot light

Is it supposed to be this fall? If so, it'll probably be NY or Chitown like dslay said.

Oh ya!

I forgot about that.

I'm not that excited one way or the other. The Envision is a disappointment to me. I hope it does well for Buick, but it looks dated already and it's not even for sale yet.

Looking forward to seeing the Envision in 2016. GM needs an upscale SUV that's not a Cady.

Enclave, Acadia, Yukon...

It was already revealed in China. The US version probably won't look much different. Just Google it for lots of pics/info.

Considering how much the Envision Concept shares with the design language of the Avenir, I am surprised they dumbed it down so much for production. It would have been a killer as is and would be the perfect compliment to the flagship. Let's hope the same thing doesn't happen to the Avenir.

That could be a facelift on the 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe !!
What are you smoking? I need something over the weekend to keep me happy.

The Hyundai remark may a bit of an overstatement, but I do agree with the sentiment. The Envision is a nice vehicle and hope it sells well for Buick. But it is my opinion it looks like it would have been new, 4 years ago.

I looked at that picture and genuinely thought it may have been one of the facelift options not used for the 2006 Santa Fe - the detailing is obviously different to the actual 2013 Santa Fe.

The reality is that for a SUV of a given size, the only differences in styling are in the detail - customers the world over complain that cars all look the same, and in any given sector they're right.
To the best of my knowledge, there has been no further word on the Buick Envision, with no news at the Chicago or New York auto shows. While images have surfaced of an Envision testing in the United States, I have heard nothing definitive about production or a release date for the Envision.

I have stumbled across a few comments on line that GM intended to build the Envision in Tennessee, but the UAW was objecting to the plan. The implication was that there will be no Envision in the USA until this issue with the UAW is sorted out.

Does anyone have further information?
This is for China, are we getting the same car?

supposed to be, they could be waiting for the Equinox & Terrain to go EOL so the can upgrade the tooling. Envision was able to launch in China because the D2XX tooling was done for their new Cruze. We may luck up and have it debut at the end of the year at LAIAS as a 2017 model.

I hope not. I'm not a fan of that design.

Saw one a few weeks back... would have been an awesome vehicle to have 4 years ago. Today, the current Buick design language is getting a bit stale, and if the Envision came out now it would already seem a little too familiar. I don't dislike it, just not convinced that it has the style a 2016 Buick deserves.
