Caught a glimpse of what appeared to be an SS driving past the main gate at Edinburgh this morning.
Looked really good in Redhot, may have to visit my bank at some stage later in the year:D

Welcome to GMI ams1983 (yes even though I see you've been lurking :D). That does look pretty tidy (except for the gums). Side and back look epic.

Can't wait to see one in grey with sharks teeth in place of the grille. :p:

Again a de-badged car.

Why are my fears over SRi/SRiV for the V6 still lingering?

REDHOTMIKE - You're famous! Well Done!
The new Holden VF Commodore SS-V has been spotted in Melbourne.

Images of the new SS-V Commodore were uploaded to US blog site GM Inside News by Melbourne-based forum member RedHotMike over the weekend.

Despite the fact the car has been de-badged, Holden director of external communications Craig Cheetham confirmed to Drive it is the flagship SS-V model albeit one with a polarizing design pack that includes red decals on the bonnet, doors and boot-lid and red-rimmed grille and bumper finishes.

“It’s nothing more than an SS-V with a styling package that we’ve fitted for the purposes of evaluation,” he says.

Advertisement However, the car may be the SS-V Redline model – not only because of the red styling kit, but also because it appears to be fitted with larger Brembo brakes and is fitted with a large rear spoiler – both of which are expected to be offered as standard on the flagship Redline. The large spoiler could be offered as an option on both SS and SS-V models.

Cheetham says people shouldn’t jump to conclusions that this is how the final SS-V product will look.

“There are bits on the car that may or may not make it to production,” he says. “The purpose of this kind of evaluation car is to show it to dealers and see what they think, and discuss internally what people’s opinions are, too.”

Cheetham says there are numerous other VF models on the road for the same purposes.

“There’s probably about a dozen cars that are being used by our engineers for testing and evaluation,” he says.

Engine details are still to be confirmed, but it is expected that the SS and SS-V models will retain the same 6.0-litre V8 engine with 270kW/530Nm for the six-speed manual model and 260kW/517Nm for the six-speed automatic. But performance gains are likely, with the VF model weighing about 40 kilograms less than the outgoing VE.

Other key changes to the new VF Commodore SS-V will include a more formal interior, less chrome-work and more black finishes, and there will be a bunch of new technologies offered on the top-tier models, including a colour touch-screen media system linked to a reversing camera, semi-automated parking and a heads-up display.

Stay tuned for more on the new Holden VF Commodore as it comes to hand.

I'm taking a guess that this might be used for the Redline spec SS-V based on the black wheels and large wing. I think that Holden should abort the red highlights as is and look at either black chrome or something else entirely to establish the Redline name.

I see where they were going with it (ala Golf GTI) but the VF's lines don't readily accommodate the red grille inserts anywhere near as well. Some of the details jar as well - bright chrome window surrounds, door handles and vents but with shadow finished wheels in addition to the red, black and chrome details on the front. So parts of the car seem heavy handed while the rear looks "plain" in comparison. If it were me I'd look at colouring the top of the 3 strakes in the grille red and all existing chrome details in black chrome. No stickers either.

I suspect it's just a hbd (or whatever it's called these days) sticker kit. They had a similar one available for the VE.

You know what,
I'm not a fan of the stripes... but if you keep the red surround on the front, and put similar red pin-striping around the black wheels... That could work for me. Even better on a black car.

The stripes and black wheels are part of an HSVi option package. Not sure if they're going to make a Redline model this time, I hope not because the sales do not warrant building them, they're just asking for more old stock!

They will have a Redline at some time in the VF cycle or at least have one available to release if they feel the need for it.

I swear I've read somewhere Redline is available from launch. I thought that the pics of the VF ute were a Redline due to the forged alloys and bremo brakes.
