I'm glad that I own my '87 Chevrolet Custom Delux R10 Full-Size Pickup... I feel safe... very safe...

These were actually posted and talked about quite a while ago.

So not much new, and as far as the G6 which didn't do well, it's sort of a well known fact that its structure isn't overall the most robust--even though the 9-3 Epsilon with the same base is considerably more so. The coupe and sedan have no issues, so it's just a weakness that was never fully developed in design, convertible wise.

Otherwise, still interesting to watch again.

I never understood the logic why truck and SUV bumpers are not mounted on enersorbers like those of cars.

I would think putting the main structural pieces of the bumpers lower on a truck would help the center of gravity... but I believe they put them higher strictly for styling purposes, and nothing else. There are still some very negative points to the automotive industry, and that's one of them. Because they're not *forced* to design the bumpers to be safer in relation to cars, they simply don't do it.

Styling is less of a consideration than clearance. Trucksactually are designed to be used for heavy work including going off road. Gound clearance and approach angle can make or break an otherwise good design when it's judged on its utility as opposed to ride comfort and Bling.
