Hot on the heels of the unveiling of the 2022 Genesis G70, the updated sedan has been put to the test in South Korea.
Much like the pre-facelift model, the new one is sold with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder producing 249 hp and 260 lb-ft (353 Nm) of torque as well as a twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 developing 365 hp and 376 lb-ft (510 Nm) of torque. South Korean customers can also order a turbodiesel 2.2-liter with 199 hp and 376 lb-ft (441 Nm), although the example tested here is the flagship 3.3-liter.
Coupled to the engine is an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to a new all-wheel drive system that includes a drift function. YouTuber Asian Petrolhead notes that the transmission shifts through the gears very quickly while also remaining smooth in all gears, including first.
In addition, he is full of praise for the all-wheel drive system and is blown away by the grip, thanks in part to the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires.
As with any recent Genesis model, the facelifted G70 is also an excellent highway cruiser and includes an excellent lane-keeping assist system to make long journeys that much easier.
