That's for the bed extension. Open the dutch tailgate, slide out the bed extension located under the primary and locks in place. Then there are two additional grate doors that swing out from the dutch tailgate doors to become the new tailgate.

That sounds pretty sweet.

The article says it will be produced alongside the Jeep Renegade. Spin a little pickup off of it(Renegade)to send to the USofA.

That looks a whole lot smaller - especially around the rear end - than a Renegade, which has almost no butt at all.

You wondered on which platform is this car?

It's on SUSW(SCSS v2.x) but as I said it will have different rear suspension than some current FCA vehicles on it and actually it's most similar to Doblo's bi-link. It will be produced in Goiania at the same plant and at the same production line as Jeep Renegade for LATAM market. It was planned that Jeep Compass will be produced at that production line. Even Compass mules were pilot produced there.
