Acura is slated to release its NSX replacement sometime around the turn of the decade, but despite what you may have heard circulating the 'Net, it's not going to be priced to compete with Ferrari and Lamborghini. There's little doubt that Acura's 500+hp, V10-powered super sled has Italy's finest in its sights, along with the perennial show queen, the Lexus LF-A, but even with current exchange rates between the Japanese yen and the U.S. dollar, the successor to the NSX won't be carrying a sticker around $180,000. After contacting Mike Spencer, one of Acura's press people, he confirmed that the comments he made were taken out of context and that definitive pricing for the new vehicle is still a long way off. He would only say that the exchange rates would have an effect, but it would be unfair to attempt to guesstimate on price this early in the game. Considering that the last NSX was knocking on the $100k door before it was killed off in 2005, we'd expect a higher sticker for the next model, but pulling a number out of the air, comparing it to other vehicles in the segment and claiming it as fact, is hardly fair. As such, we'll wait for a formal announcement from Acura so you can start saving your pennies for the NSX's upcoming replacement.

Cool car, but... just more waste of time, enery, and money on an irrelevant piece of machinery.
Really? Does the Corvette fit that bill to? CTS-V? One of the performance goals for the V-10 in this car was to return a 25 mpg (Japan rating) average. Honda has met the fuel efficiency goal for this engine, the engine is ready, the car body is not.

the nsx's design was always derivative. it borrowed from ferrari, and the gm cerv iii concept. the corvette was consequently attacked for looking like the nsx. the c6 looks even more like the cerv iii, and the c7 will likely, imo, look even more like it. of course, gm has a much broader styling language, and heritage to draw from...so the next corvette could follow the stingray iii, or something else.

i know the gtr doesn't look like a sports car on paper, neither does the 599gtb - more like grand tourers - and they both handle exceedingly well. the zr1 should hold its own against any japanese entries.

now that halo cars are hybrid slugs, if the nsx does make it to production, i expect it to be low numbers, off an existing platform, and have a short life. i can understand the v10 from a prestige pov, but a twin turbo 3.5 v6 could do wonders.

How can you confirm a 25 MPG rating when you do not have the body finalized? Aerodynamic efficiency is just one part of the mileage rating puzzle. The car has also not been tested in final form with suspension, safety equipment, etc. which all affect mileage.

They might want a 25 MPG rating, but that is wishful thinking for a Japanese V-10. The larger engines from Japanese companies tend not to be as efficient as large-sized American brands. The Corvette is a good example.

As competent as the NSX was, it just doesn't have the cachet that Ferrari, Porsche, Corvette, et. al. do.
Not one person turns their heads when they see one go by. It just doesn't look exotic or interesting. Nor does its performance overly impress you for the price.

i hate it because an NSX should be mid-engined, period.

Despite the rumors I doubt this or the Supra will ever be built. There's a lot of hot air coming out of Japan. I seriously doubt either Toyota or Honda can build a car that competes with the GT-R.
i agree. no matter what the hp or weight, the GTR IS the unlimited super car of the future. yeah it may be alil portly, but the technology engineered into it, renders that moot...and the fact that it makes around 550hp NOT 480.
