Curve Confirmed for Production

GM says it is making progress on turning around the profits of two of its ongoing loss-makers, Saab and Saturn, through cost reductions and new models coming this year. GM product boss confirmed that the company will build the Saturn Curve, one of the Kappa platform cars at this week's Detroit Auto Show. The Pontiac Solstice and Curve will be built at Saturn's Wilmington, Del., plant. The Chevy Nomad Kappa concept is a tougher proposition, said Lutz. "Chevy has so much product coming already that dealers are starting to complain about where they will put it all," said Lutz. Lutz also said Saturn will soon get a " big brother" to the Saturn VUE in the form of a big crossover SUV, though he declined to peg a launch date. GM said its stronger performance in the second half of 2003, when its U.S. market share rose to 28.7 percent compared to 28 percent for all of 2003, will carry over into 2004. -Jim Burt

I guess I'm not all hot air.
so- it's a rebadged version of the new Vauxhall Lightning?
After seeing the Curve in person today at NAIAS I have to say that it looks much better than in the pics. Though I still think they should tone down the front a little on this or if something similar makes it into production.
All you nay sayers HAVE to be kidding. Put some HP in the Curve, offer the right colors and this thing is gonna rock. And get off the Edsel thing. BELIEVE ME! THIS IS NO EDSEL!!. I was there when that loser came out and I'm still laughing. There are a whole host of European sports cars with centered vertical grills and no one lays the Edsel label on them. Also, this shouldn't be compared with Solstice because the Solstice is a drop top as opposed to a coupe. It is gorgeous in it's own right. The Nomad is a whole different deal with an appeal and market of its own. Who said GM has to produce either / or? This is America! Tastes and needs differ. Frankly, I would have a difficult task choosing between them. Thing is, I don't know if my 6'2 frame will fit in any of them, given that they are all chop tops with two of them having limited (or no) seat-back recline capability.

That's horrible.

Solstice is lackluster, but the Curve is just horrible.
Your just mad because they cancelled the F-body cars. :D

Thanks for the link. TCC doesn't do it for me for "confirmation." My sources are more trustworthy, but I'm sorry I can't disclose them.

Apparently Saturn will probably get a Kappa vehicle, but the Curve isn't it.
yup you're right.. Saturn Lightning.. anyone wonder why the VX lightning concept was at NAIAS? Maybe a little hint?

Think about it...
here is a link to saturns website What new vehicles is http://www.saturn.com/saturn/contactus/cus...nav=4210&page=9

this page is about what new vehicals saturn is producing, it also lists the specs for the curve, unfortunatly it does not list a release date.
