Sounds interesting?
That really doesn't make a lot of sense. They're getting so much power out of the turbos. Camaro is more for the guy who wants V8 muscle. And you get the larger V8 in the Camaro, who wants a smaller one in the Caddy? They just need to get that weak 2.0 turbo with 230 or so HP out of the CT4/5. Doesn't belong in a Cadillac. Go wuth the 2.7T and the 3.0T for all the non Blackwing models.I'd like to see a V8 available in non-Blackwing CT5s, maybe the 5.3 liter could be worked on and massaged into a proper Cadillac mill.
One should be able to get a V8 powered Cadillac sedan that isn't nearly a full on race car, for a more relaxed style of driving that still offers traditional V8 performance.
A V8 for a non-Blackwing Cadillac is a simple matter of preference for us old school Cadillac guys. Until Cimarron in 1982, All Cadillacs had been V8 or bigger since 1915*. Some of us simply prefer V8 rumble. That really doesn't make a lot of sense. They're getting so much power out of the turbos. Camaro is more for the guy who wants V8 muscle. Our Blazer has the LSY, not a notable NVH improvement from older LHU/LTG...give me the dang 30 more hp and whatever the old NVH standard was.Hopefully GM addresses the NVH issues that 2.0L LSY and 2.7L L3B engines have unfortunately become infamous for.
This is needed more than power boosts. But they have a mild hybrid version of the 2.0T they use in China. Supposedly, the mild hybrid version has much better NVH. Perhaps that can be the new entry level engine.Hopefully GM addresses the NVH issues that 2.0L LSY and 2.7L L3B engines have unfortunately become infamous for.
That is seriously a no-brainer.Make the 2.7T the base engine in both the CT4/CT5. Offer the 3.0T on the CT4.
This. Throw the tried and true TR3160 in there and make it an enthusiast’s car. That car would definitely be on my very short list for new vehicles, but as it is now, I won’t consider a CT4.It would be cool if they offered the stick behind the 2.7T in a standard CT4-V.
Get the BW with the stick.This. Throw the tried and true TR3160 in there and make it an enthusiast’s car. That car would definitely be on my very short list for new vehicles, but as it is now, I won’t consider a CT4.
Exactly, when my CTS lease ended two years ago they tried like crazy to get me into a CT5. I told them my 2.0 with 270 hp was marginal enough and I would never consider the 237 hp version. The 3.0t brought the lease up way higher than my old one. It's crazy, I have 335 hp in my 6 cylinder Camaro.I'd likely already own a Caddy Alpha sedan if their lesser trims weren't so weak. How do you trade your 340HP V6/stick LT Camaro in on a pathetic(and noisy) 230HP Caddy for considerably more money? It doesn't even get much better fuel economy!!
That’s a novel idea. And do I just pretend there isn’t a $20k difference in price, not to mention dealer markups on the BW?Get the BW with the stick.
It was a 35 ft/lb increase. Went from 260 ft/lb to 295 ft/lb.2024 Cadillac CT4 And CT5 Might Get Powertrain Updates (***.com)
So this is for the 2.0T, probably squeeze 5 or 10 hp more? Or at least more torque - kind of like what they did with the 2.0T in the ATS, I believe two or three model years in they got a noticeable 15+ ft lbs of torque bump.
With a little leg work, you can find them for sticker or slightly below. If you can't afford the Cadillac, you can order a Camaro with a stick for under 30k.That’s a novel idea. And do I just pretend there isn’t a $20k difference in price, not to mention dealer markups on the BW?
