Yeah....that's the way we want to go - Astra versus Golf, Cruze versus Corolla, G5 versus Civic............

The sooner we can stop this retarded form of thinking...the better.

1) Identify product segments
2) Offer best possible product in that segment
3) That's it.

That interior is so typically German... and timeless. I prefer it to the Cruze's (which tries way too hard to be a Honda dashboard).

The taillights though are disappointing... unlike all those other modern VW taillights (Passat, Golf/Jetta City) which are quite original and cool-looking.

How is that retarded thinking? The Golf isn't even in the same class as the Civic or Corolla. Astra on the other hand has comparable features, pricing and models. The only major difference is the lack of a diesel option which in North America isn't really worth it with the price of diesel more than gasoline. The Astra is aimed at Mazda3 and Golf/Rabbit.

VW as a whole stands far apart in my mind, from most mainstream brands. Reason being? Alot of their products aren't exactly worth their over inflated pricetags......kinda doubt this will too.

You know... there really is nothing wrong with the current Cobalt's interior, at least design-wise. The fake wood has to go, but that is about it. Freshen up the center stack and add a nav screen, and it would not have to apologize to anyone.

excatly. The cobalt drives way better than Honda and corolla, save for the electric power assist on the steering.
Its very balanced. Most people here who hate it have never driven it.

I like the exterior look of the new Golf a lot! The interior on the Cruze is AWESOME though, totally looks class leading. Very upscale and modern, with nice implementation of the two-tone colors. The Cruze will be a huge hit for GM

Unless they do what they usually do and give us a super watered-down version of the interior...

I agree, if they did that it would be a lot different. From what I've heard though, what you're seeing is what we will get (unless something changes). It would be very stupid to do anything other then give us that interior.
