I read somewhere years ago that one of the tricks of the car show crowd was to clean the glass w/chrome polish. Makes sense as it certainly won't streak chrome. Has anyone tried or heard of this? Wondering how it would be on a street rod.

I haven't tried it, but now that you mentioned it, I might try it on a small area of glass. I've got water spots that wont come off and a mild abrasive like chrome polish might work. I've also heard clay bar works well on windows.

Belive it or not the best thing to use is newspaper. Yes take your normal glass cleaner and wipe it off with a section of your newspaper. You'll thank me later.

Newspaper and Invisible Glass work the best for me...

I wouldn't use chrome cleaner as it's going to be pretty abrasive. It even says on the bottle to only use it when the chrome is dull as it'll scratch it after too many applications. I'd say avoid it on glass.

Newspaper is fine but not on tinted windows, holy scratches!! Just use two fresh rags, one to clean, one to dry

The newsprint suggestion keeps coming up. Think I'll give it a try. I really don't have any scratches or water spots I'm dealing with, just want a crystal clear, streak free glass.

If you are cleaning a really crusty old window, CLR works wonders.

I keep a spray bottle w/ about a 70/30 mix of water and white vinegar on hand. You can use it hardwood floors, cabinets, dashboards, door panels, windows, tile, just about anything. It doesn't streak like most glass cleaners do either. And it's cheap as heck. Don't tell anyone, but a professional window washer I talked to uses the same mixture with some dishwasher "anti-spot" stuff. That's truly the way to go for windows IMO. You can't use that stuff on just anything though.

I use a clay bar on my windshield, and then I use some foaming glass cleaner and newspaper.
