Aaaahhhh....that fresh, newly-washed look is so intoxicating...isn't it? I finally washed my older 4 Monte Carlos this past Saturday [the '87 MC LS daily driver will get its second cleaning of the year this coming weekend, weather permitting, of course]...partly to have them ready for the July 26 gathering here, in case it IS sunny...but mostly to get the "winter dust" off them. Now, they all just look and "feel" so much better! Sure makes a difference when they are clean; driving them after a fresh wash is a bit invigorating, imho.

Hmmm...does anyone else who has multiple cars notice that each car as its own "personality"? It just seems that each of my MCs have a distinct feel and "attitude"...not just because each are a different generation/body style, either. I find myself with a slightly different personality, too, depending on which MC I'm driving...he heh.

And...it looks like I'll be heading to Arkansas the weekend of August 2 to pick up my new-to-me '79 MC...!!!

Haha, I dunno I sort of notice it between my Jeep and SS. The SS doesn't like when other people drive it... I can tell you that much. I had a mysterious smoke coming from under the dash when I let my friend drive it... went in and investigated and couldn't find anything. I told my dad about it and HE looked and couldn't find anything

Suffice to say, I went out and got a 5/8's wrench (for unhooking the negative battery cable) and a mini fire extinguisher (that lives under the seat) to keep in the car...

Really, it was super weird. I checked EVERYWHERE, not one melted wire, blown fuse, or singed piece of carpet to speak of. And it was definitely not just condensation steaming, it smelt burnt. Hopefully that's the last of THAT...

5/8ths for a battery cable? Wow you are lucky those stupid GM sideterminals that hook with like an 8 mm bolt that breaks off are long gone!
Haha, the fourth-gen Monte Carlo's are a nightmare to work on; half of the parts are metric and the other half are SAE... At least my dad has a more complete socket and wrench set now! :p:

That and now I'm really good at guessing the size of a bolt in either metric or SAE! So good for me...

That is good, you are becoming a man

I am always happy with my Saabs because they are about 100 % metric (the oil drainplug is 1/2 inch and the tranny drain is a 3/8ths square drive) so I needent bother with too much "wrong type" sockets... It kind of bugs me because my nice Craftsman socket set has half of the sockets being these "useless" English ones I never use :lmao: And half of my real nice Mastercraft set of keys

When I start to work on my Firebird that will probably change

It's kind of funny though, it shows you what was designed before the '80s. So it's mostly drivetrain parts that are SAE and everything else is metric (usually 10MM).

I have the mix of SAE and Metric on my 2 b-bodies also. Lets also add torx bits in certain parts. I think the Equinox is mostly metric.

LOL!

Well, it's good to know that mine aren't the only ones that can have a mind of their own when others drive them. Though, I don't think mine have ever been as unhappy as yours...they just tend to hesitate or something...like they think they're being stolen...he he.

That's why you ditch the Delco and snag one of those nifty CD/MP3 receivers with an AUX input ;)
