Hi - I want to buy a Chevy Volt, configured 'just as I want it,' and even left a check for the local dealer to place an order. Now, I'm being told by the dealer that Volt production has been suspended for retooling until late November. Can anyone confirm if Volt production is, in fact, suspended? Or is the dealer feeding me a line, trying to get me to get something off the lot?

Could fit the 'rumor mill,' if true...

There are currently 7,632 listed on cars.com as new inventory available for the nation. That's roughly a 4-month supply. So, suspending to retool is realistic. Do some searches to find one near you to buy.

Detroit Hamtramck, the plant that build the Volt are in fact down till later part of October.

Yes, Hamtramck is down, not sure since when exactly, but I think it was mid August. ( I know they were off-line all of September)

Scheduled to re-start Monday, November 10th.
