Sadly that $60K behometh is too large to actually operate in true offroad conditions. I don't have open desert where I live and I have to imagine NJ doesn't either. It also gets about 12 mpg in the real world making it pretty crappy in the urban jungle as well. Hell it has to have factory installed running lights because it's overwidth.

The problem with V8 power is now you need all the rest of the big and heavy parts. Heavy trans, t-case, axles, brakes, etc. then you have a vehicle that needs to go on a diet. The wrangler does quite well with their 3.6L v6.

Yeah well.... due to timing as others have said already - seems much of what would be nice just ain't likely.

Although , a 5.3 announcement followed later with an announcement that the 2.8 TD is coming sooner than expected would be .... sweet.

So.... shucks, failing any of that then...... a 6sp MT 3.6 V6 AWD / 4WD would be nice in whatever kinda' 'package'.

Didn't mean to post the one line reply above without justification. I would say that your generalization of who the Raptor appeals to is just plain incorrect. The Raptor seems to appeal to anybody who wants a badass looking truck, even if they may or may not use its offroad capabilities. To put it plainly, the raptor appeals to a pretty broad audience, so much more so than simply "white trash with money". Plus there is no denying that the Raptor has been a total cash cow for Ford, so GM would be smart to emulate it's formula with the Colorado/Canyon, or even Silverado/Sierra. Make the truck capable, not just some stickers and slightly above average rancho shocks, aka Z71 and All-Terrain package.
