Does anyone know any specifics about changing the oil in the subject motor?

I have done hundreds of oil changes, but never on this engine. I was just wondering if there were any tips or hints out there.

if its a 3.6 in a traverse,or other lambda have fun. remove the filter from the top, takes a 48 filter.
should be about 6 quarts.

3.6 in a malibu, never done one before, assume its similar to the other 3.6 liter high feature engines.

Some of the HF's use a cartridge instead...top removal too...none of the Chevy's...just the CTS, STS, SRX & G8 so far...

Good luck getting the oil filter out if the car is hot. GM positioned it in such a hard to get to manner, if the car is hot and you make a mistake say hello to some pretty neat burns.

the 3.6 in my CTS requires Mobil 1 (or similar synthetic) per the oil filler cap! Did they do that on the Chevy models? FYI one of the easiest oil changes around!

yeah the caddys are nice. quick and easy. almost like an ecotec cartridge.

no the chevy vehicles dont require mobil 1. dont know why cadillac does either.
