Does anyone have a closeup of the center console. I can't quite see the radio. I hope it is not like the one in the Malibu and G6.

I like the interior. I'm not overly fond of the outside, though, because it just has a warmed-over Cavalier feel, even though it's more than that. I guess time will tell how the public likes it.

Oh, why do all the exterior shots have that dude in them? Are these pictures of the car, or that guy? :unsure:

I wan't too impressed by this in photos, but I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it in person. It looks far more sophisticated than most recent GM small cars - tons better than the Saturn Ion.

If it drives and handles (and stays together) as good as it looks - and if GM can resist trying to instantly go to Toyota/Honda pricing, they may have a real winner on their hands.

Also good to see that they have a promotions plan that includes racing to give the performance model some credibility.

I have to agree with TONE. GM/Chevy needs to keep the pricing in check and keep the quality high to surpass Toyota/Honda or at least equal them to have pricing in the same league.

TAHOE - Pics are great. Can't wait to see and drive this one too! B)

The Cobalt is goingto be the lifeline GM needs to keep up in the small car/tuner performance area. A 220 and up HP 2.0l S/C would be very nice, and I hope those are the numbers. Any production car with stock numbers of 200hp and under just isn't worth considering for a tuner aftermarket platform.

do you know who "that guy" is?


Over all its a nice car. I hope they just go with a supercharged flavor for the SS only. No optional engine. The SS line should be top of the line handling braking and performance.

I must say, I like the interior, cept for the steering wheel...ill try to find a close up of the console, but I believe its a different unit then the G6 or malibu...

The youger guy sitting infront of the Cobalt (who sorta resembles me, but i don't really look like him) is the cheif designer of the Cobalt...I forget his name though...

Good God that blows the old Z24 model Cav. away * I owned a 1999 Z24* :woot2:

That interior is bad *** for a little car like that, almost as nice looking as a VW jetta's quality wise from the picture and a hell of alot better than the Mali and G6. And its nice to see they got the look of the radio right with it, something I can't say about the Mali and G6 too. I think I'm soold on this car, sure the exterior isn't perfect *but better than alot of cars* but there will be a ton of aftermarket slap on's for this car you have to remember.

So the base model gets the 140hp 2.2L, mid line gets a 2.4 170hp and the SS gets a s/ced 2??hp motor. Nice line up, but I'm really waiting to see the specs on the SS motor. As long as it makes more than 200hp I'll buy it.

About the only things that could screw the Cobalt up would be a lot of recalls, bad factory assembly/fit & finish, or poor handling/driving experience.

GM seems to have learned from the ION's poor reception in the Auto Media -- I think they will be falling all over themselves to find something wrong....

"But it doesn't have variable valve timing like a Honda! Oops, actually, it does..."

"But it doesn't have the same kind of tactile feel or 'Panache' that you get with a Honda Civic.... or well, maybe it does...."

"Um....Chevrolet has a poor quality record.....shut up JD Powers, yes they do!"

"Uh....RESALE VALUE will be poor! Yeah, that's it!"

...or if it's overpriced for a small car could screw it up too. However, I think/hope this car is a home run. I agree that the biggest thing that stands in it's way is the misconception that you just "have" to have a Toyota or Honda for quality. Even my sister thinks that way. She had an 89 Grand Am LE that she put 225,000 miles on the old 2.5L "Iron Duke" 4-banger. She abused that car and only had to have brake and exhaust work and a few other small items. But when she sold the car she "had" to have an Accord because in her perception Honda is better. That's the type of mentality that stand in the way of a car like the Cobalt
