Re: Progressively Boiling the Frog

Personally I think its a great idea. Though I probably wouldn't want to sign up since my rates are already great. Though you will always have those with the "Big Brother" comments that will spur.

The founder of Progressive Insurance is a big time supporter of one of the presidential candidates. To keep this non-political, I won't mention the candidates name, but you can think about the word "PROGRESSIVE" and figure out who that candidate is.

BIG BROTHER is just around the corner.

Is it the one from the party that came up with the Patriot Act?

Yes, I thought the Progressive Insurance was quite the nice touch...:)

Almost.

Why do they call them parties? Disasters would be a more appropriate term.

I've seen it... but what does that have to do with the reply to your post? You said thats the reason you don't want OnStar with a new GM car.
It's a well known metaphor and a very clever title on the part of LAMRONH. It means if these things happen in small steps instead of all at once, most people won't notice or care.

Re: Progressively Boiling the Frog

Nice thread title ;)
Thank you, McR.

BTW, it looks like someone has "cleaned up" the title.

Funny, PMS the Worst can post a blatantly political thread [used to be against the rules; perhaps he has speshul priveleges] and it stays up for days.
My title gets PC-Zapped in 24.

I actually like the idea.

If you are willing to let them take a look into your driving habits, then yes, if you show you're a careful driver, they can charge less to cover you.

I've done this for insurance on some of my buildings. A guy from the insurance company comes and inspects everything, makes a list of stuff to fix, I fix what's on the list, and my rates are much cheaper.

Makes sense for both parties... good customers that are willing to show the insurance company that they're good pay less, insurance companies pass some of their savings to good customers.

Of course, if you insist on hiding every bit of personal information from the insurance companies, then obviously they'll have to assume you're a potential bad customer and charge you more. I'd rather show them that my properties are well maintained and/or that I'm a good driver and reap the savings. It's not like anyone is forcing me to do it.
