GMI I present you with this question: would you rather have a Camaro ZL1 or a CTS-V Coupe? The Chevy or the Caddy?

Consideration points:
  • Both are powered by the same 550hp LSA small block Chevy V8
  • Both have a 6sp manual transmission
  • Both feature sport-tuned suspensions
  • Performance should be very similar in both vehicles

I'm posting this separately as I don't want my personal opinion in the OP. I'd opt for the ZL1 because I far prefer Camaro's styling and I don't have any particular desire for the Cadillac's superior feature content.

Shoot me, but I'd take the Chevy. It looks much better IMHO (I stress IMHO) and it has all of the same goodies, even adaptable suspension, for a whole lot less. It may not be 100% of the CTS-V for 70 cents on the dollar, but it's surely darn close.

ZL1 for me. I'm in love with the Camaro's styling. Plus, I expect it to be a little quicker due to a little less weight and perhaps some lessons learned from the V series which has been on sale for a while.

Camaro. I just hate the looks of the CTS Coupe... it looks overdone, like they tried too hard to make it look cool, and as a result it just looks awkward.

Plus, for all the complaints I have with the Camaro, it still looks really awesome.

CTS-V.

I came across one last fall and it stopped me dead. Stunning. I'm a convert.

Camaro exterior is decent enough, but the interior kills it for me. Also, I'm one of those lamefaces that prefers automatic, so the stick-only ZL1 gets a big 'meh'.

I like them both. I tend to think I'd go for the CTS V versus the new ZL1 only because its more luxurious...and more contemporary in design...

Still the new camaro ZL1 is smoking hot as a pony car so if priced at 50 grand base price I'd consider it as well...

Just not sure which image I like better...

The CTS V also offers an automatic transmission and thats a big plus for me...as I already have a manual vette...

Now if one of them offered up a dual clutch transmission that would cinch the deal without a doubt...

CTS-V for me, but as some others have stated, I'd get the sedan, not the coupe. The CTS is just a little more practicle for my wife and me. She takes her co-workers to lunch and I take the grandson and the kids that live next door to McDonalds.

All these cars are awesome...GM has one to fill everyones taste...

Lots of guys dig manual transmissions but since I already have a manual transmission vette....I'd go for a 2 + 2 automatic CTS V coupe....

I find its styling really striking and its 2 + 2 seating would make it more practical as an all around car if it came with an automatic transmission..(for me)

Lap times at the "ring" that produced the fastest sedan lap time for any sedan under a hundred grand...The CTS V used the automatic transmission...

Thats good enough for me as a freight train hot rod! but don't get me wrong I love the new ZL1....I definitely hunger for one....Its that amazing a vehicle ...

I'm not sure if this was posted yet and even though I thought the zl1 would base msrp at 44,900 car and driver announced they believe the base MSRP will be under 47...

Now if thats true..the ZL1 is a smooooking hot deal!

hard to beat that price...for a car with 550 hp!!!

I love both vehicles, but I voted for the CTS-V Coupe. You're bound to see far fewer CTS Coupes on the road, V Series and Standard variants, than Camaros...

But if the CTS-V Sport Wagon was part of the equation, that would most certainly be my choice!;)
