I just wish they would just unveil it already there have been so many spy photos, leaks, etc that there is really no point keeping it under wraps any longer IMO

350BHP out of the 3.6L direct injection V-6 is asking a bit too much, esp. considering that this car is going to have a Z28 V-8 right above it. V-6s pushing out this much power out of such a size really hurts emissions and drives down fuel economy.

Hey GM, how about a Memorial Day treat and just give us ONE nice official photo of the production Camaro? We've seen so much, the cat is almost totally out of the bag anyway. So why not :) ?????

This could help them combat high fuel prices. People will be able to get something that performs very well without using as much fuel.

The 3.6L is kind of known for not getting good MPG.
Lets see. A 3600lb car, like my LaCrosse with a 3.6L, and it puts out 60 more HP. I am expecting 16/25 MPG even with a six-speed. Maybe 17/26 MPG, if we are lucky.

It is still a lot easier to swallow than 15/24 MPG at today's prices.

17/25 in the automatic G8. If the V6 Camaro is 250lbs lighter, has better aero, less frontal area, direct injection (doesn't DI add power AND improve gas mileage?), different gearing, a manual trans, etc - it seems like they could hit 19/27. That would be almost as good or better than most performance oriented 4 cyl cars.

All things equal, yes DI does improve performance and fuel economy slightly.

Fuel economy statement is based on what owners of Malibus and owners of Camryshave stated and reported to get from their V-6 powered cars.

The Chevy Malibu with the 3.5L VVT (225BHP)and 4 speed gets the same mileage of the Toyota Camry with the 6 speed and 268BHP (both rated at 22MPG combined). The 3.6L in the Malibu is rated at 20MPG combined...... and I wonder what the 3.5L would get if it had the 6 speed in it maybe 1MPG combined. Hopefully if they move to the direct injected motor for the Malibu that V-6 MPG will go up by a good amount. Indeed that the heavier CTS with 50 more BHP gets the same MPG as the malibu still 26 to 27MPG is the most Id expect from a V-6 Camaro when consumers might be happier with something that gets over 30MPG on the highway.

Someone at GM really knows how to do managed leaks. Kept interest hot on the Camaro and the Volt for 2 years now by controlled leaks. Way to get free publicity, even if only car crazy enthusiasts are the ones lapping this up.

I imagine that 19/30 is the "bogey" for MPG on the 6 speed manual V6 Camaro, which means that it will have a really tall 6th and probably skip-shift. Who knows, maybe they have found a way to install DOD on the HF 3.6? Wishfull thinking.

I guess that they are working on having it "feel" like a V8 around town, of the line and in mid-range 30-70 mph acceleration, and still be able to have it get high MPG window figures on the highway(for sales purposes)

300hp+ V6 Camaro. Yeah, lots of V6's are breaking the 300hp barrier these days, but seeing this and then looking out the window at my MY2000 200hp 3.8L V6 Camaro makes me realize what a difference 10 years will make. Finally! the V6 model that won't leave you wanting.....
