Because the owners of cars with that M badge is kind of leaching onto the legacy and prestige of the badge without forking over the cash. Sort of an underserved honor.Like you see BMW M badges on a bunch of vehicles that aren't?
The way the article was worded it sounds like you can't just go to the local parts room and get one - hopefully it will keep the badges off of non-Blackwings. I don't know why, but it irks me when I see an M badge on a base BMW.
