The Cadillac Blackwing super sedans – the CT4-V Blackwing and the CT5-V Blackwing – are the most powerful models ever to wear the Cadillac badge. Upon introduction, these ultra-high-performance machines were strangely not given any special badging to denote their status as Blackwing models. In other words, the Blackwings were no different from the “regular” CT4-V and CT5-V models from a badging standpoint, making it difficult for innocent onlookers to tell the two apart. Luckily, Cadillac Society recently learned that the luxury marque is in the process of introducing a new decklid insignia that will do just that.

The new badge enhances the multicolor V-Series “racing Mondrian” pattern that’s currently found on all V-Series models – including the CT4-V, CT5-V, Blackwing and Escalade-V – by adding a silver bar with a “Blackwing” inscription in bold, black lettering. Current owners of a Cadillac Blackwing super sedan were contacted by the luxury marque about the new badge with the following message:

“You earned it! The CT4-V Blackwing/CT5-V Blackwing models will now carry the Blackwing designation beneath the V-Series badge on the rear decklid. We know how special your V-Series Blackwing is, the designation will make it stand out even more!”

I can't think of any other vehicle (any make) that I'd create a thread about a small decal. Was a head scratcher to me why they didn't do this upfront. You certainly don't need the "Blackwing" badge to tell the regular V and the Blackwing apart, but still... the reality is most people like their badges (though I know some people do remove their badges).

Nice that they are making them available to people who've already bought one.

I wonder if there was some kind of production restraint - like Ford had with its logo (I think an employee at the 3rd party supplier released toxic waste into a reiver and the EPA closed down the factory or something like that)?
None of this would have been necessary if they had just retained the V-sport and V-series hierarchy.

Very subtle styling differences on the exterior between the V and the Blackwing: front fascia with splitter, side extractor vents and rear spoiler are the most noticeable. A badge would help!

Like you see BMW M badges on a bunch of vehicles that aren't? :D

The way the article was worded it sounds like you can't just go to the local parts room and get one - hopefully it will keep the badges off of non-Blackwings. I don't know why, but it irks me when I see an M badge on a base BMW.

Well there's another $5k added to the Monroney sticker.

Yeah. They could've just used the new, improved KIA tag that looks suspiciously like K&N. Save a couple of bucks. Yes we can!

Just leave that sticker in the window, then you don't NEED any badges.

Isn't that why you've got those various badges? So others will know what options you've paid for?

Hey, I got the leather seats over here! > badge it! <
Hey, I got convenience package 2! > badge it! <
Hey, I got the 8 speed! > badge it! <
Hey, I got the AWD! > badge it! <

Pfft, just look at my window sticker.

Because the owners of cars with that M badge is kind of leaching onto the legacy and prestige of the badge without forking over the cash. Sort of an underserved honor.

Also, you have to go to your dealer to get one, but I am sure fraudulent badges will be made on sold to anyone with any car. People are so tacky.

True. That hijacking of the legacy without the substance to back it up 😖. I wanted to give you the :( as well as the (y) but I cant do both.
