What a very nice surprise !! In the GT3 format they are bound to find a group of new customers/sponsors now the world will be their customers, and we will see another GM brand racing internationally. And it will be competition for the new Callaway built C7 GT3 version now delayed to 2016.......???
To me this is a very big deal, with 2 all new race versions for GM to build and promote.
Not really a surprise. The World-Challenge was not competitive against the GT3 machinery on the grid. It was really the only choice.

Interesting quote from the article:

"Rules require that the engine configuration remain largely similar to the street version (the Z4 GT3's V8 required a special exception), and so a theoretical M4 GT3 would invariably run a turbocharged inline-six—not the ideal powerplant for the GT3 program. The twin-turbo V8 is a better bet, and that likely outweighs other considerations."
