What a very nice surprise !! In the GT3 format they are bound to find a group of new customers/sponsors now the world will be their customers, and we will see another GM brand racing internationally. And it will be competition for the new Callaway built C7 GT3 version now delayed to 2016.......???
To me this is a very big deal, with 2 all new race versions for GM to build and promote.

Not really a surprise. The World-Challenge was not competitive against the GT3 machinery on the grid. It was really the only choice.
I sure wish Cadillac would build a road legal version of this car. Maybe the same styling will be brought to the ATS-V Plus.
Guess we know the upper limit for the TTv6.

Or at least the one they are comfortable beating on all day on endurance racing.
The car looks really impressive wide, all it needs now is that CTS Vr engine then it would be perfect.
So the name of the engine in the ATS V is the LF4, I guess it makes sense that it has a different code from the LF3 so I wonder what differences it has.
The ATS needs hips like this. Not as radical but something to make the car more appealing.
What's also interesting is that BMW went with the M6 as their next GT3 spec car. They didn't want to race the twin turbo in-line six and felt the twin turbo V8 is better. We'll see.http://www.roadandtrack.com/racing/racing-news/bmw-m6-gt3-announced
Interesting quote from the article:

"Rules require that the engine configuration remain largely similar to the street version (the Z4 GT3's V8 required a special exception), and so a theoretical M4 GT3 would invariably run a turbocharged inline-six—not the ideal powerplant for the GT3 program. The twin-turbo V8 is a better bet, and that likely outweighs other considerations."

The fact that they race the TTV6 means there will be no V+ with a V8

That'd be like saying Porsche won't make a 911 Turbo because the GT3 is normally aspirated.

Or that Porsche won't make a 911 Turbo with more power than the GT3 car.

Or Chevrolet making a C6 Corvette with more power than the C6.R.

Cadillac won't make an ATS-V+ on the first gen ATS, but it has nothing to do with the GT3 car.

It just means GM is more confident they can make more power from a smaller Engine than BMW and they already have the Callaway GM powered V8 GT3 Corvettes.. which interestingly have not switched over to direct fuel injection
