Cadillac ATS and CTS sales disappoint

4290 Views 40 Replies 34 Participants Last post by  b4z

Even with the production cuts, Cadillac and its dealers had about four months' worth of unsold CTS sedans and six months’ worth of unsold ATS sedans on hand at the end of January, a Reuters analysis showed. In January, GM sales rose 18 percent, largely on the strength of full-size trucks and utility vehicles. Cadillac sales increased just 2 percent, with ATS sales dropping 8 percent from a year ago and CTS sales down 24 percent.

Who'da Thunk........

The 2 cars that were supposed to redefine and build the brand are the ones that are suffocating it.

Why doesn't Cadillac stop making cars and just make the Escalade and SRX?

I see. But because of a malfunction yesterday threads weren't visible. I did check first. Moderator, can you remove this thread?

Perhaps in the case of the ATS, they could try and make the base model look less like a base model. Not sure what the MY15 one looks like though, perhaps it has been improved.

The truly best way to go........ given the common assumptions and also given the changes occurring as we speak would be to..... add about ( another in some cases ) 3 / 6k in 'additional value' across the boards..... and leave the MSRPs alone ( although with improved lease pricing. )
too many models inside the model, base, luxury, performance, premium and V....each with a confusing array of features and there in not enough, you cannot be all to everyone ,get rid of base and one of the luxury or performance....the same for the CTS........I have a premium now and by the time I get a new one it will be a performance version at even at todays new pricing 22 % higher and what did I get extra ..almost same engine ,an 8 speed tranny, heads up display and the cue oh and what 3-4 inches longer.......go to my dealer because of pricing matrix cannot find a performance vehicle, all they have are luxury turbos no magnetic ride, and 3 colors ...and you want to know why they are not selling and that pretty much sums up the situation for all dealers with in a 150 mile range

On a more relative note: VW global sales are down too.

You make some good points, but I don't think this is the sales problem. There's just something about ATS and CTS that's failing to draw buyers in. Brand reputation along with increased prices is probably #1. Styling, while appealing to me, I think is #2. I think they're attractive cars, but A&S perhaps has run it's course.

It's a shame that the sales are what they are. People have no idea what they're missing.

I had a 2015 CTS as a loaner last week, the second time I've driven one. What a tremendous vehicle. Even with the 2.0, it's quick. The handling is precise and the car feels so agile. This one had an interior that was a step above the base model that I had the prior time and also included the lane departures and collision warning electronics that the first loaner lacked. There's no perfect vehicle, but this one doesn't have many shortcomings.

Spent some time looking at an ATS coupe too. I like coupes and I think this should have been more bold, like the CTS coupe. But it's growing on me; a very elegant vehicle.
And Ed753 comments on each and every one!

Don't take it personal, I'm just hedging my bets, I anticipate most of my posts along with everyones else, will disappear in a day or two...............

It is a shame because they really are fine vehicles (especially the CTS)...They deserve better in the marketplace.
