Cadillac Announces ESCALADE IQ: The First All-Electric Escalade
General Motors

May 22, 2023

Motor vehicle Automotive design Electric blue Auto part Luxury vehicle

The Cadillac ESCALADE IQ will be revealed later this year and promises the same commitment to craftsmanship, technology and performance that has helped the Escalade nameplate dominate the large luxury SUV segment for the last 20 years. The ESCALADE IQ will join the LYRIQ and the upcoming CELESTIQ as Cadillac continues to build an all-electric portfolio.

The IQ naming strategy celebrates Cadillac introducing a different type of EV to the market — one that works in tandem with people’s daily lives and environments. The IQ designation is Cadillac’s EV nomenclature and first debuted on the LYRIQ.

It‘ll be interesting to see if the two compliment each other in the way the Range Rover Sport compliments the regular Range Rover.
The same comparison occurred to me. Plus, there's a remote chance the IQL could be more than just a longer-wheelbase version.

This aggressive styling also raises questions about Tahoe and Yukon, which have always been recognizable as Escalade's corporate cousins. Will their EV iterations share these sportier dimensions/proportions or will Escalade IQ be given well-deserved, legitimately independent styling?

You can imagine what this competes with and where it competes. Again, this will be a pinnacle of design and execution,” said Reuss. “Some of the things we learned on Celestiq will find their way into these vehicles, which I think is going to wow the world once again. Even after the Escalade that we sell today, even in V form, so there’s some great things happening here.”

Speaking of the extended-length variant, “the wheelbase differences we have today and the size base differences we have today on our full-size SUVs, we’re going to do it again in a much more innovative way, though. You’re going to see things here, design, size, platform sharing-wise, but also technology-wise, that will be very different from what we execute today. We’re pretty much finished with the design, and going for production,” Reuss added (GM Investor Day presentation, November 2022)

Not for me, the only thing I like about it is the rear shot, the front and side look goofy to me. The crossfire looked 1000% better than that and it still failed.
Agreed - like the back. The other two views are meh at best. The front isn't HORRIBLE, but needs work.......that oval door window kills the whole look for me.

I think it has better RWD proportions than Escalade ICE.
I wonder if it'll have an actual/useful frunk?

I don't understand how any of you can look at that Escalade covered with wrapping and have any idea what it looks like under all that..
Uh....I'd imagine it'll look like every Cadillac has for the last 20 years, and/or a continuation of Celestiq's styling. Not that long of a bridge to cross.

Exactly.
I figure it would look like a Lyriq slapped on an Escalade sized frame, with an evolved interior using Lyriq as the foundation. I would expect some sort of grille similar to Silverado, but with Lyriq and Celestiq LED accent lighting. Size will be somewhere between Silverado and Hummer. And the price, my guess, will be above Hummer but below Esc-V. Power will be, my guess in the 600-700HP range, given where Silverado and Hummer are today, but probably less than Esc-V. Tho, the V has performance enhancements.

Lyriq doesn't have the 'impact' the current 'E' has become iconic for, so 'Lyriq-izing' the Escalade would be a mistake.

I would not be so quick to dismiss the impact of larger size, considering that much of the current "impact" is a direct function of size.

When you look at the Blazer, E5 and Hondas version there are similar green houses. I’d expect the same for the SUVs. Though the Sierra and Silverado offer quite different shapes. I think more so than the Blazer trio.
Yup agree to disagree, the more pictures I see of the Atlantic the more I hate it honestly. As for the Crossfire looking better I guess I'm probably a bit biased because I own one.
That's fair enough.. I had no idea, obviously. I didn't intend to be personal. We all like what we like.
