True.
True. When Cadillac will get rid of the Escalade ICE, all Escalade IQs will most likely be called only Escalade.
Intelligence Quotient ???What does the I and Q stand for? Neither of them say EV
When a Lincoln sees it, it says "I Quit".What does the I and Q stand for? Neither of them say EV
I don't disagree, but I would have left it at 'Escalade'.Neither do I.
But Escalade has a lot of brand equity. To drop it or rename it "Escaladiq" would be a disservice to the brand.
And there's an IQL coming too.
It stands for "Anything sensible is already trademarked, so we had to resort to this." Not just BMW either...What does BMW's 'IX' "stand for"?
I-LectrifiWhat does the I and Q stand for? Neither of them say EV
Cadillac Atlantiq has a nice ring to my ears!I don't disagree, but I would have left it at 'Escalade'.
The IQ after that looks tacked on because it is. And it's absolutely meaningless, outside the fact that the rest of the named EV models that conclude with the 'IQ' as part of its name, i.e. CELESTIC, LYRIQ etc.
IF they wanted a new name that naturally ended with IQ, I'd be more receptive. I would propose
A T L A N T I Q
But Cadillac will do what they want to do, they always do.
Names are usually Trademarked, not Patented. Regardless, I dnn't think it can be similar for a similar product. But I'm not an expert, I just had a beer at a Holiday Inn last night...Didn't Chrysler have an Atlantic concept car? I'm thinking Chrysler might still have a patent - out of curiosity anyone know how the patent laws work? Meaning where the different lettered, but pronounced the same, naming concept works with patent laws.
That'd be a relevant example if BMW used actual names and tacked "iX" on a named model. What does BMW's 'IX' "stand for"?
Or is the general question irrelevant?
Not much different then when Caddy went to all alpha numeric "names" except the Escalade of course. No sense messing around with a proven iconic name.Tacking IQ behind Escalade is a forced solution to keeping the known Escalade name that doesn't fit in with the "all names must end in IQ directive.
Agree - probably good for marketing alsoSmart move having the Escalade EV have a proper EV platform and different styling.
Pleasantly surprised GM.
Oh sure, I'm not saying to change it., it's just not very "tidy".Not much different then when Caddy went to all alpha numeric "names" except the Escalade of course. No sense messing around with a proven iconic name.
For what it's worth, I also considered P A C I F I Q but there again sits Chrysler with PACIFICA.. So.. not sure what the trademark/patent/copyrightCadillac Atlantiq has a nice ring to my ears!

It’s an Escalade of a different formula. Why not “IQ”? Escalades of different formulas have been named like that in the past.I really don't see the point of adding an IQ to the Escalade name.
Does anyone think the buyers would be otherwise unaware that it's a battery vehicle?
Who else needs to know?
This looks to be closer in size to the Lincoln Aviator than the ICE Escalade. Does anybody else think the same?
