Cadillac Announces ESCALADE IQ: The First All-Electric Escalade
General Motors

May 22, 2023

Motor vehicle Automotive design Electric blue Auto part Luxury vehicle

The Cadillac ESCALADE IQ will be revealed later this year and promises the same commitment to craftsmanship, technology and performance that has helped the Escalade nameplate dominate the large luxury SUV segment for the last 20 years. The ESCALADE IQ will join the LYRIQ and the upcoming CELESTIQ as Cadillac continues to build an all-electric portfolio.

The IQ naming strategy celebrates Cadillac introducing a different type of EV to the market — one that works in tandem with people’s daily lives and environments. The IQ designation is Cadillac’s EV nomenclature and first debuted on the LYRIQ.

Can't wait to see this! I really hope once the Suburban/Yukon versions come out they have a different profile from the Escalade IQ.

So is it "Escalade I Q" with the I and Q pronounced separately or "Escalade-ick" :ROFLMAO: ***

*** and I'm kidding if anyone is taking this comment seriously

Just rip the band aid off and call it the Escaladiq you know you want to GM

I really don't see the point of adding an IQ to the Escalade name.

Does anyone think the buyers would be otherwise unaware that it's a battery vehicle?

Who else needs to know?

I believe it's because GM intends to sell the ICE 'Slade and the EV IQ side by side for quite awhile.

Neither do I.
But Escalade has a lot of brand equity. To drop it or rename it "Escaladiq" would be a disservice to the brand.

And there's an IQL coming too.

It's just a badge - the people buying it won't care what it is called.

What does the I and Q stand for? Neither of them say EV

I'm absolutely sure that they will drop IQ when the entire lineup will be EV.

Well, no. Given that they've already trademarked a slew of names, all ending in "IQ," it's not likely they'll be dropping this anytime soon.

Besides, Cadillac needs consistency with their naming.

What I'm really interested in is that this should be previewing the general overall packaging for GMs full-size SUV EVs. GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Tahoe.

I think he means specifically for the Escalade IQ.

Eventually, it'll likely revert back to just "Escalade" once the ICE model disappears.

Does the roofline look more raked than the ICE model, or is it just an illusion? It's also hard to tell if it uses the same sheetmetal as the current model or if it's different.

Smart.

Why would they need to put an EV badge on it? The reason the EV badge was ever used on electric cars in the first place was so that rich people could virtue signal to the neighbors. EVs are moving into the mainstream. Buying them won’t be about virtue signaling as that happens.

I‘d be very interested to see how the interior volume compares to the Ice Slade. Clearly with things like the lower hood profile it has a less aggressive stance.
Just based on proportions alone, it appears to be a bit smaller than the ICE Escalade.
Which, honestly, isn’t a bad idea if the intent is this being sold internationally as well as North America.

When Cadillac will get rid of the Escalade ICE, all Escalade IQs will most likely be called only Escalade.
