Guys, I've done quite a few brake jobs.

My monte carlo (1995 Z34) is finally back and working. So its time to park the truck.

My monte needs new front brakes.

For the most part I buy napa parts. Excluding starters and alternators (they are junk.)

My question is, I went into autozone and got a few quotes, because the brakes (pads and rotors are expensive at napa.) I was wondering if anyone uses Autozone brake pads and rotors and has had good luck with them. Specs:

Friction Master
Brake Pads/Shoes - Front - Ceramic Brake Pads - 2YR Replacement
$46.46 (beats napa)

Wearever Gold
Brake Pads/Shoes - Front - Semi-Metallic; OE replacement - LIMITED LIFETIME REPLACEMENT

Wagner
Brakes Pads/Shoes - Front - Semi-Metallic; Thermoquiet - LIMITED LIFETIME REPLACEMENT

Depending on the size of my rotors (diameter.) (I'll measure them)

Wearever
10.5"
$19.98

Wearever
11.25"
$26.98

I am heading home Thursday, so info would be much appreciated!

Im thinking the cermaic pads and i'll have to measure the rotor size.

Quality of parts, suggestions??

I haven't had any trouble with Wearever Gold pads and their rotors. Have them on the Reatta

i have used wagner pads on several used cars that come in our dealer, mainly on products of other manufacturers, not of GM.

I only have paid for Wagner Pads once.
Every one after that have been covered by warranty.

It is everything ELSE that I have to pay for.

That is one thing about GM cars that has always annoyed me.
Their brakes. I seem to have to replace the rotors, calibers, etc all to often.
On my 140+K Buick I have replace the brakes and all the 'other parts' 4 times.
Or was it 5 times? It has been so many times that I cannot remember.
However, I do like these Wagner pads at least. I bought the 'good ones'.
Which ever my mechanics told me were their better pad then I bought it.
I do that with most replacement parts.
I will spend a little extra for the 'better ones'.

This is why I am looking to see how many times I have to replace my XLE's brakes.
My sister's 2001 XLE had it's brakes replaced at 87K miles.
My sister is not nice to any vehicle either. She rides them hard.

GM OEM brakes have universally been considered garbage.
They warp all too easily and fade super fast.

Brake replacements tend to occur way too often on GM vehicles (i dunno about now though, but it has been like this for quite some time now)

Update: Was very easy to do! Probably the easiest brake job i've ever done actually, which surprises me with this car..

Brakes look/perform great! I had the 10.5" rotors and I got some thermoquiet pads, they were reccomended.

We use Thermoquiets at work, and we have very little problems with them as long as you break them in propperly, but that goes along with every single brake job.

I had no problem with my Maxx. I ended up replacing my Maxx's rotors and pads at around 50k due to heavy vibration in the rotor. I never got around to the rears though...

My Caprice's rotors are starting to pulsate, Ill have to look into that.
