Bought a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 Limited

Luck has it I found an "in transit" Sierra AT4 that was loaded (6.2L) with exception of technology package. By luck I found out about it before the salesman even knew it was inbound...I must have saw it on the website immediately after it was posted. Anyhow it was built 2/2022 and arrived last week (faster than the website said 5/11/22 estimate). I didn't realize how big this thing is until I parked my 2018 CC Silverado 1500 Midnight edition next to it. Wow, these things feel like HDs now. Anyhow I'm very pleased with it. One thing I may go back and get checked out is a horrible smell coming from the exhaust. I've had many many new vehicles but it's never smelled like this.....almost like a burning mouse nest (urine or something). I hope that's it and nothing serious like a catalytic converter. Anyone experienced this before? It's so bad I leave the garage open to air out for a bit before closing the doors. It's only got 60 miles now so we'll see how this gets solved....with time or an inspection.

Beautiful! I was admiring an AT4 the other day in a parking lot. Best of luck with it!

Good luck with the smell, hopefully it's just something burning off???

I’ll likely get it checked out soon. The other odd symptom was the first night I brought it home lots of water was dripping from underneath and onto the exhaust cross pipe that connects the two manifolds. It puddled on my garage floor. Definitely water. It was a dry day.

Congrats on the new truck. Looks sharp! I can't help you in regards to the odd smell, but the water dripping under the truck is completely normal. That's where the condensate drain line is in the new K2 trucks, as opposed to near the right-front wheel well as previously.

Hope you enjoy many smiling miles with your new truck.

It's a beauty and I really like the color too :)
I see your subdivision builder loves ****ty trees too!!

Probably one of the better looking trucks on the market right now. I think the AT4s are 1.5" taller than the standard 1500s.

Just an interesting note, the crossover exhaust pipe from the left (driver) side that goes under the transmission is so flat in design and looks restrictive. I bet these engines would scream if they had true dual exhausts.

Yeah, I want to grind every last invasive ornamental pear into dust and plant native trees like sugar maples or oaks.
Sharp looking truck. The smell is probably a sticker or something burning on the exhaust.

I was hoping for that, but it's got a very strong ammonia or sulfur smell definitely from exhaust gases. Maybe the catalytic converter is breaking in. I'll drive it more and see...err smell if it clears up.

Interesting, I have no idea what that could be.
Have to admit I'm jealous of anybody with a garage long enough to fit a full-sizer comfortably!

Great looking truck. Love the color. Probably the best looking trucks on the market right now. These things are huge. I was driving my '69 GMC 3/4 ton when a CC GMC pulled up next to me. I felt very small in my classic. Of course this was before I decided to do a frame-off restoration.

Let's see some pics with both your trucks together. 👀

I traded it in. I'd love to have a fleet of trucks but the house CFO overruled me.

Lol. I thought I was the only one who called my wife the CFO. She's also the CEO. If I was to monitor our funds, we'd be broke. Lol.

Nice truck…. but that interior. It’s literally from 2015. The postage stamp size infotainment screen was embarrassing compared to Ram and Ford. I read that when Ram introduced their 13” screen a couple years ago at the Detroit auto show, the Chevy execs in the room muttered a collective “oh ****”. Took GM 3 years to counter but with the new ‘22’s finally got it right.

My AT4 is gonna be produced on May 2nd. I couldn’t buy a limited. I would curse the interior every time I got into the thing knowing their is a much better option in all the new ones!
