The MINI Crossover Concept.

The MINI brand is continuing its overwhelming story of success - now taking a new approach with the MINI Crossover Concept.

This Design Study offers a fascinating outlook at a new facet of the brand powerfully expressed by a truly innovative body concept - the fourth body variant, to be precise, following the classic two-door, the MINI Convertible, and the MINI Clubman.

The MINI Crossover Concept is a new model variant for the first time measuring more than four metres in length, with four drive wheels, four doors and four single seats. These features alone place the new car right in the line of vision of new target groups seeking to combine the individual style of the brand with enhanced versatility within the interior and innovative functionality throughout.

Overall, I rather like it, however, I am disappointed with the FJ-cruiser-esque roof. That is one thing I do hope changes.

I would say, that knowing MINI, if they were to produce a Crossman, they would be offering the luggage racks as an option. In the MINI, luggage racks are definately useful, especially because there really isn't a lot of space in the back...

I think that I read that the entire thing is going to be a little over 4 meters long; really not much bigger than the current MINI offerings.

Why does everything that's not a car have to have luggage racks. They ruin otherwise clean lines, probably hurt fuel mileage and are only used by probably ummm ........ no one.
I totally agree. They should strictly be an option on any vehicle. The only people who really want them are the same people who put an aftermarket brush bar on their FWD Escape ;)

Beyond that the Crossman is kind of fun.

I hate the idea, but the execution is surprisingly good. Perhaps the only way not to make it absolutely awfully goofy. The roof bars are needed to give a vehicle the "off-road" looks, just like black body cladding at the bottom.

The concept seats take after, suprisingly, Fiat 500's...

Anyway, anybody who gets one is the King of Chavs.

THIS is a Mini...

So is this...

The South Africans spiced things up...

While the Canadians did this fugly hack job to it...

The Japanese paid homage to the Mini...

But this alone shows the damage the Huns have wrought on my beloved "Brick"...

Under BMW rule, the Mini is now about as British as Bratwurst. Turn the stereo on and you hear oompah-loompah music. The dashboard voice reminds the owner to "shut ze door" and "fasten ze seatbelt, Bitte". There's a clamp on the dashboard to hold a Volksmarching stick, and the "new car smell" has been replaced with an aroma redolent of baking Pretzels. And a gem this... each new Mini comes with a complimentary Bier Stein emblazoned with the Union Jack...

Paddy Hopkirk would roll over in his grave (if he weren't still alive that is...).
