Overall, an attractive evolutionary design. I hope the quality is as good (ahem) as the current M-Class. In that way, Mercedes is sure to have a loser on its hands!

I also like how the SRX's powertrains outpower the comparable upcoming M-class powertrains. While we're talking a few horsepower, it nonetheless exceeds the MB; consumers can be a bit concrete in their thinking at times.

kia called... they want their sorento back!

Oh man, you beat me to it! I thought exactly the same thing.

First the Amanti/300 connection, now this. D_C name changed to Daimler-Chrysler-Hyundai-Kia
actually, it looks like an RX330, which the Kia is a copy of more or less. only form an exterior styling standpoint, however. the Kia is body on frame, and the RX is not... besides, i don't need to explain the differences between a Lexus and a Kia to you people, do i? laugh now, but this looks like tough competition for the SRX, oh, and the 9-7X. you won't be laughing so hard when it hits the market.

oh, thanks for correcting me! i was worried my impression was wrong!

if the M-class hasn't been a threat yet, i don't know if this mild update will be. especially if they don't iron out the multitude of electrical gremlins we've come to expect from mercedes. the X5 and RX300 are more trouble than this M-class, in my opinion. though i think the FX45 is the sexiest shape out there.

but correct me if my opinion is wrong!

It does have a little Sorento in it, but still is a nice evolution of the old design. As long as they have changed the interior from the old nasty one they can expect better sales.

No matter how Mercedes is similar to Korean cars ,there will be still many people who will buy its cars.
I hope Cadillac is planning improvements of the SRX,especially the interior which I like, but many journalists don't...

WOW I LOVE IT!! But I can probably get a Sorento for cheaper. And the hood's the old one stuck on a new body. <_< Did anyone else notice that?
The current generation M-Class has a hood that opens up with the front grill. The next generation M-Class has a hood that opens up without the grill, as you can see by the hood lines.

We have to see: will the interior be nice enough??
it's a Mercedes Benz. of course the interior will be nice. way nicer than the SRX....

which i'm curious about this one.. how many SRXs have you been in? it's a CTS interior, which is by no means really nice or luxurious.

oh, and this one here......

just because the Koreans copied the style of the Lexus RX or 1st gen M-Class, doesn't mean that the MB is similar to a Korean car. there is a difference in a Mercedes, and to infer that it's like a Kia in any way other than styling (which was cribbed from MB by Kia in the first place) is ridiculous. you people need to take a more objective look at what else is out there instead of assuming that GM has it over everything else.

The current ML and SLK have always been problems to Benz. Something they couldn't tackle because they were selling so well. Now that it is time to review the two vehicles again, and Benz is afraid:they have to redesign now! just like Caddy is doing with the Escalade.

Superbadd i don't think anyone here thinks GM is superior to mercedes, i don't know what would give you that idea...

however the new m-class still looks like the sorento's long lost twin, seperated and raised across the globe, though it still looks like a raised minivan to me.

you claim that every new MB interior is nice and luxurious???
You must have not seen the Mercedes Vaneo/A-Class interiors!!!
(not mentioning the Mercedes work-trucks)

GM may be not superior to Mercedes itself, but it's superior to DaimlerChrysler...

Contrary to their stellar past performance, MB is currently grappling with multiple quality issues.  Any comparison of current product to the Koreans may not be too far off the mark...
except that the koreans have surged ahead. well no, just hyundai perhaps. but still, can you imagine having this discussion two decades ago? "motor trend, june 1984 edition: pony versus 190... korea invades germany!"

(oh, like how you used the word 'stellar'! hahaha! freudian slip?)
