Not to downplay this (it's very good that they got the score, and a number of competitors didn't), but top ratings in the NHTSA tests have come to be expected now.

 

Watched the crash test videos and I must say that the Aura has a one SOLID FRAME!! It's great to see that the Aura got a double 5 star crash test rating. GM really needs to adverise this!

Well both can be had relatively easily. GM needs to have navigation by the time the Red Line is released, so there won't be that compromise, even if a lot of people would rather have a 6 CD Changer. Oh well...

Side impact for the AURA will be tested in the future. Double 5 star is expected there also.

Being on the platform that it is on, I too am not surprised it did so well. But I agree with ifcar, those types of scores are to be expected in todays cars. Kudos to Saturn for not disappointing us.

I don't believe they talked about the crash tests in the commercial, but I saw the same one twice within a half hour of watching TV last night (NBC, watching The Office), so they are definitely starting to advertise the Aura.

well therin lies the problem, i only watch nip/tuck and ive been consumed by the playoffs and nfl as of late (i guess im not in there market cause i see the silvy/sierra commercials all the time)

But since the Saab 9-3 is number 1 for midsizers and the Malibu with side bags is #3.

The Aura should do well. Only problem might be side impact with its longer wheel base and doors.
