It's the combination of a few things like when our government banned a Chinese Govt owned company from being involved in 5g projects and came to a head last year when our Prime Minister publicly called for an inquiry into the origins of COVID19. The CPP has since gone nuts banning different Aussie imports, officially & unofficially.
Seems like de couplin is in full swing.. we better all get on with it , follow your lead

Glad to get an Australian perspective, what is the spat with the Chinese?
Xi seems to mistake Australia as a puppet state of China for one. They think we should stay quiet while they commit all sorts of crimes and put our nearby neighbours in to debt. What is happening to them is there own doing and if they break off relations with us then so be it. Australia made modern China and we can unmake modern China. They are constantly hacking our organisations and government facilities and spying on us.

US did the same thing with the 5G, and we encouraged the EU to not trust them either. I've also read some briefings which warned about other products coming from China. There have been cases where rogue components were inserted into devices that should not have been there. There's no doubt that China is probably the largest hacker / stealer of information in the world. They can't develop it on their own, so they steal it. Countries are right to not trust them.

No doubt, that's how reds roll. Ivan has had worms and moles all over the West since the '30s at the latest. Chyyynnnaaa would not have any viable aircraft carriers or modern fighter jets, among other things, if not for spies and traitors.
IIRC their 2gen missile subs spent years in port because Chairman Mao was afraid the crews would defect, or the boats would go down but not come back up.

Without stolen Western tech they'd still be rice farmers and fishermen.

Don't be too surprised if at least part of these electricity cuts are intentional. Cut production, squeeze supply lines. Let the western world know how dependent they've allowed themselves to become on a hostile foreign power with dreams of world domination.

Biden should order American companies out of China and have them move their operations to the U.S., Mexico, India and Vietnam.
Xi is Mao Part 2. The guy is nuts and he will attack Taiwan. Then what? get out of China now, forget about the over 1 billion consumers and get out

Yeah, I know. Not likely to happen, but Biden did send Military officers to train the Taiwan military, that's a big step.
Hopefully the masterminds of the Afghanistan disaster aren't among the trainers.

Due to the sheer difference in size and population, China could take Taiwan. But it wouldn't be easy and Taiwan could put a serious hurt on the communists. The have a large, well trained, and well equipped military that has been in a state of constant alert for 73 years. Unless there's new equipment involved, the likely don't need U.S. trainers.

We're on the verge of a global energy crisis. A bad time to try and convert to electric cars.
Affordability, profitability of EV's does not help as well

Where's our trade gone? Germans blame Brexit as car industry slumps by £14bn
GERMAN carmakers have blamed Brexit for the worrying decline in the automotive industry as the sector loses billions.

A new study has suggested Germany is now on course to lose the UK as one of its top 10 trading partners this year for the first time since 1950, according to research by the state-owned firm Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI). Since the UK voted to leave the EU in 2016, automotive trade between Berlin and London has fallen annually by an average of 12.3 percent, data suggests.

As a result, German exports almost halved in value between 2015 and 2020 - from €30.4billion to €16.4billion.

Some of it is self harm, geo political/electric car.

You have to think about solar and wind as diversifying the portfolio for power. Wind farms have exploded in the last few years and are truly producing quite a bit of energy. This map:

Has a ton of fun stuff within it.

This is happening literally in my area and at $323 million to supply 460kW seems like a terrible investment now.

Back in my home town, just one renewable company has put in about 1700kW of capacity for 1.1 billion capex.
