At last year's Shanghai Auto Show, Lincoln showed off their vision for the second generation MkX. Now, we finally see the real thing after pictures and details have leaked out ahead of its formal debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on Tuesday.

Most of the exterior has carried over from the concept. The now Lincoln trademark bow wave grill gives rise to perhaps the most bejeweled headlights ever seen on the production Lincoln. The headlight appearance comes from full adaptive HIDs with available LED strips. The strong belt lines of the sides of the MkX Concept have also been carried over.

Unlike the clamshell rear of the smaller MkC, the MkX features a more conventional rear liftgate. The full rear light-stripe has also carried over.

Hmmm, undecided on this.

Its better than before. I feel like I like the exterior more than the interior
Very nice. I like it. Good one Lincoln.
Wow! Looks like Lincoln is really upping their game and it would be a shame if this were all for nothing.

P.S. Some may not like it, but it is muuuuch better than this...

Looks good. Lincoln is smart by focusing on CUVs.

The first iteration of the MKX had a cheap look to it. The 2016 looks worlds better!
About what I expected.

That said, it's beautiful. Great job, Lincoln!
Looks modern and contemporary, something that Lincoln sorely needs. I hope it does well.

My only issue is if you take off the grill and put on another badge you wouldn't know it's a Lincoln. I'd just like them to develop something that is unique. Take a badge off of an SRX, ATS or CTS and you still know it's a Cadillac. You may not like it, but you know what it is. Same with most of the Germans....

I think Cadillac needs to get its A$$ in gear. Lincoln now has two very attractive CUV's to Cadillac's one, (soon to be replaced) in segments that are experiencing the biggest growth in the industry.
I HATE the naming system! I was thinking it was going to be the MKS!

Much more upscale than this generic looking design. I really like it
Yea! The 2016 makes the old one look like a 90's truck. BIG improvement.
The most interesting bit, to me:

Power for the MkX will come from an available 2.7L V6 EcoBoost engine. Though not confirmed yet, we believe the base engine will be the 2.3L EcoBoost. Like the MkC, the MkX will likely have an all-EcoBoost engine lineup.
Can we expect ~340 HP from the 2.7L?

Someone with a brain decided to copy a beautiful lighting signature!

Wow that looks pretty great! If i'm being honest i really liked the original. Simply for it looking like the 60s continental. It looked like a Lincoln.

I love the character lines on the sides. There is some serious sculpting happening there, that makes the MKX look more substantial and wider than it is. It also visually lengthens the body.

I don't know how one can say it looks like everything else, without the grill. I find the side profile to be very distinctive in a see of bland CUV side profiles.

It's nice, but that interior design looks stale to me.

Lincoln and Cadillac need to ensure that all new product has the gas pedal mounted to a bottom hinge..like in CTS and ATS. That is what separates the real luxury from grocery haulers.
Stunning. I'm not surprised the Total Recall Motors' sycophants don't get this. They are used to cheap looking interiors without detailing as being luxury. Think interiors done by Kmart. They can't process real luxury and design details without dents and creases.
That looks great. Good job Lincoln
