FPV Unleashes Its FG Arsenal

From 310kW blown six to 315kW Boss V8, FPV's FG Falcon-based performance range pitches its new sports and luxury philosophy.

While FPV refuses to acknowledge the power war between itself and HSV, its new FG arsenal is proof positive that one exists.

“This is not a power war – it’s not about a badge on a boot; we are not chasing numbers,” said FPV head honcho Rod Barrett at the new model’s introduction last night.

He almost sounded convincing…

The past two days have seen both HSV release its 317kW LS3 and the Federal Government reveal its new luxury car tax (which effectively stopped HSV from revealing its new pricing).

But at last night’s introduction the members of the team introducing FPV’s new cars had the glow of well-fed cats. Almost every question was answered with a ‘wait until you drive it’, followed by a smirk, grin or wink.

While we wait, here are the facts.

FPV To Put F6 On Ice

Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) will be without its series-leading turbocharged F6 model from mid-2010.

The tuning house has just launched the storming new F6 turbo, which sets new standards in Australian six-cylinder performance, belting out 310kW and 565Nm from just 1950rpm.

Ford Australia will cease production of its Geelong-built inline six-cylinder which FPV uses as a basis for its F6 powerplant just before the Euro IV emissions standard comes into force in July 2010.

A senior FPV source has told GoAuto that FPV will not have a replacement engine ready by the time production of the Australian I6 winds-up.

The lack of a replacement engine means the F6 model will be put on ice. Asked whether FPV would stockpile some I6-powered F6 cars before production ceased, the source said: “No, when it’s over, it’s over.”

oh and that coupe looks awesome...and the falcon doesn't look like an epica (IMO) apart from very basic sedan attributes.
 Where have you been?

It's the same scenario when Holden replaced the pushrod 3.8 V6 with the new global HF 3.6 V6.

It's not a surprise to them, the duratec 3.5-3.7 V6 will take over.

Like commodore, diesel will be offered around the same time.

might wanna invest in a sarcasm detector ;)

just thought it was weird that something like this made news, when it was pretty common knowledge that the I6 is gonna be phased out

Right...

The article is about the fact FPV won't have an immediate turbo V6 replacement come 2010.
Not about the inline 6 phase out.

This has been spoken bout before, but a thread would've had to of been made to show the demise of one of Australia's most pre-eminent sports cars. A twin-turbo or turbo V6 will be a while after the new V6 is launched anyway.
Ford NA already has an "Eco Boost" -ed V6, which is a
DI + turbo setup. They wont have to develop diddly squat.
I read that myself, The new Turbo V6 will be on ice.

But i was looking in Motor i think it was, Tested the F6.. And only got 5.2 0-100..
But done a 13.3 1/4..
Now 13.3 that's moving, But 5.2 is about XR6T times.. Don't know how they run times but they never seem to match others?.

I agree. The issue is, will they have access to the blown V6 come mid 2010 when the NA V6 launch occurs?
It appears they may not, afterall the blown V6 doesn't hit the US market until mid 2009.
