depends on the brand. If you buy a K&N filter there will be a slight increase in horsepower and fuel economy. Otherwise the AC delco filters are designed to be cheap and readily avalible when it comes time to replace it

That is what I am asking but it is a GM Part # vs. an AC-Delco Air Filter is there a difference. I heard there is a difficulty getting 3rd party Air Filters ie Purolator, to fit a 2006 Monte Carlo. The seal is the difference foam (OEM Aire Filter) vs. rubber.

Ive always found them to be the same.
I compared the part # on the stuff I removed to the stuff I put it- and the numbers matched.
I continue to buy AC DELCO filters......

The AC Delco and dealer parts are the exact same. Almost everything I order for the shop has both a GM number and an AC Delco number on the box.
