depends on the brand. If you buy a K&N filter there will be a slight increase in horsepower and fuel economy. Otherwise the AC delco filters are designed to be cheap and readily avalible when it comes time to replace itIs there a difference between the ones you buy at the local auto parts store than those directly from the Dealer/GM?

That is what I am asking but it is a GM Part # vs. an AC-Delco Air Filter is there a difference. I heard there is a difficulty getting 3rd party Air Filters ie Purolator, to fit a 2006 Monte Carlo. The seal is the difference foam (OEM Aire Filter) vs. rubber.Subject: "AC-Delco Air filters"

I think he trying to determine if there is a difference between the $9.19 A1194C from Rock Auto vs. the A1194C from the GM dealer that costs $24.95
