6th Generation Camaro weight guessing game

Here are the rules:

1) This for the the lightest V8 low option car possible (a 1SS), and
2) no special editions, no 1LE or Z28, etc.
3) This is the weight GM gives using their standards, for example the base ATS weight according to them is 3315 IIRC.

I wish the ATS-V reveal had given us an exact number to go off of. My guess:

Based on experience, these threads never turn out well.
3,675 lbs.
Also, no Price is Right rules.
Much less than the current 1SS.

Slightly less than the ATS-V.

Your bid was too high, so you're disqualified. Actual weight was 260.78571422336 stone. Thanks for playing!

I don't see why it would necessarily weigh less than the ATS-V, particularly since it'll be larger and less expensive.
300 lbs. less then the porky Mustang.
Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

Not as light as the ATS; not as heavy as the current car. I think those are the only logical assumptions one can make re the 6th Gen Camaro weight.

I don't think the Camaro will carry any less mass control than the ATS, perhaps even more. I said less than ATS-V, based on the weight differences between the LF3 (or whatever the V's engine will be coded) and the LT1.

Very true, I wasn't thinking it through properly. If anything, what I was thinking would only make it lighter because of a "lower standard of luxury," that I would guess accompanies a Camaro versus an ATS.
I believe the SS will come in around 3700-3750 with the Z28 being the lightweight track car at around 3600-3650. This is not a small car, and there's a lot of sheetmetal that's inherent with retro styling.
Seems like getting a 400+ hp four seat car below 3600 lbs is pretty tough. I suspect the lightest V8 Camaro will be on the 3600-3700 lb range and will be duly impressed if it's much lighter than that.

Sounds like the ability to take weight out of Alpha for lower power versions is there, though. So a 3500-ish lb 300+ hp V6 or turbo four may be in the cards.

A 3450 lb, 330 hp Camaro with sticky tires and the right suspension tune and brakes could be good for grins!
