There's an aftermarket fix for the 1500s [spring-things.com] sells a shim kit. I've read many favorable comments about them working. maybe the same... or they have some for the 3500's springs.

update ...stopped by the dealer
service manager tells me the gm engineers tell them to lube the springs with axle grease!! claims they have been doing it for years!....
i was born at night but it was not last night,
so next week all the crap will get washed off and not reapplied.
if they needed to be grease there should be a fitting like years ago

nope! i will be there and if they can not fix it, i will leave with a rattle........just like i will leave with no retrofit yet, (over 6 months now)
it was better before they worked on it,
in time i will figure out it out and fix it

I am surprised that no one has said they are having the same issue with a 22

thankyou, that is the service bulletin they went by, took 4 hrs and the pic shows the greasy mess they made, and it still does it!

I would think that the white lithium grease that the technician smeared all over the leafs of the springs would be prone to catching and holding grit and gravel, and potentially work into the leafs. - scoring them.

i wish it was white lithium, its wheel bearing grease!, they claim thats what gm engineers said to do to it. i have read the bulletin, and i dont think the relax and retorque was done properly,
i feel that if they are supposed to be greased then the tech bulletin should state that,

just realized i never updated this, sorry,
N0V 9 they replaced the springs and hangers, serviced it at 5000 mi, dove it a while no noise, then put it away for snow and salt season!
now that the weather is looking good for april, it will go in on APR 11th for chip install for heated seats, no steering wheel retro yet.
dont like dealers wanting drop off saying it takes a long time to do, i will wait for it!
