Why would anyone prefer a Tesla over this?
It’s indeed much more than the Ford Lightning’s 320 miles of range with an Extended Battery pack and 328 miles for the Rivian R1T with the highest range configuration.Chevrolet has some electrifyingly good news to share today! The Silverado EV Work Truck’s EPA-estimated range is in: 450 miles on a full charge. With this official estimate, the Silverado EV WT is expected to offer over 100 miles more than its closest on-sale competitor.
The automaker also added that while the 450-mile version will be the first available, the Silverado EV WT will also have a smaller battery pack option with a “GM-estimated 350 miles of range on a full charge” that will come “soon after launch.”Our engineering team long targeted at least 400 miles of range, but they were able to go above and beyond to achieve this increase. Over the past several months, extensive development and testing unlocked the increased 450-mile range. This figure, paired with the ability to charge at 350 kW, makes the Silverado EV WT the choice electric pickup to serve fleet buyers’ needs. After all, this truck wears a Silverado badge – it’s made for tough jobs.
I'm assuming you're talking about the Cybertruck. You can't get either, yet. You'll most certainly be able to get a SilvErado before a Cybertruck. Why would anyone prefer a Tesla over this?
Only available for fleets. This is just the base "Work Truck" with a max battery, correct? At what price? Can the general public buy it? Good number to hit from a PR perspective.
How far will the range drop once its jacked up with 35's, light bars, HD bumpers, skids plates, etc....that the PU crowd loves to slap on?![]()
Depends on the capability of the charge source (and if it's delivering on said stated capability). That's fantastic range. I wonder how long it will take to fully charge.
The Electrek article doesn't provide specifics, but I wouldn't be surprised if the answer is "all of the above".I wonder what is the source of the increase? Better chemistry? Software?
I think I read somewhere the Hummer EV battery alone weighs something like 2900lb. I assume this Silvy EV battery weighs the same? All BEV are weighty lumps. Theres a reason GMC dealers had to install upgraded service lifts if they wanted to be HummerEV dealers.

When GM first revealed the W/T it was supposed to be if I remember correctly, $39k....obviously that is going to change. I think $80k is the entry level Silverado EV which the RST will be based on...best guess I think the W/T will be mid to upper $40's.Chevy Silverado EV Work Truck range: How does 450 miles sound? - Autoblog
This autoblog article said it starts at $80k plus shipping/destination.
I agree. The design of the rear quarter panels is especially subpar. That's too much real estate to have so little going on. It's so bland.but I think they are still missing the mark on design
