Ehh, the Z06 was supposed to be the track focused Vette but they had a lot of thermal handling, ie overheating issues when used on a track.

My suspicious is the 6th Gen ZL1 1LE was going to be the Z28 but GM cut out the N/A motor and just kept the LT4 with more track parts.
The 460hp LT1 had a TQ curve similar to the LS7 if I'm not mistaken...only thing missing was the sky high redline...which is sort of why I felt that the LT1 + the ZL1 1LE's aero package would've made a decent Z28. Maybe GM/Chevy was nervous of the inevitable GT350 comparisons to a LT1 powered Z28 and were worried that it might not've been enough.
