"This is the Cadillac CT6-V with the new and exclusive Blackwing V8 engine. And it's Cadillac's flagship sedan with a V. It has two turbos, a great big stonking V8 and a ton of torque. And it's already been discontinued. James and Thomas jump behind the wheel to see if this is something to be upset about or something to celebrate."

Bizarro World, isn't it? A stunningly great car, and they're canceling it. And it's sold out its run. Granted, a small run, but if you can sell out a small run at that price, it's something that you build on.

"I'm calling it a Blackwing because Cadillac's naming scheme is confusing and stupid. And because Blackwing is one of the coolest names associated with a car ever."

Amen.

It'd be a shame if that engine is not utilized more.

This is the first review where I heard someone say the Panaray system wasn't that good.
I've read that before. It's a good not great stereo, others are better.

I think wheel design is something that Cadillac has often fallen short on. I'd prefer something sportier on mine.

I have listened to this exact system in the CT6. It is very underwhelming. More speakers help to create equal sound stages for all passengers (or they should), but the sound is not balanced or rich in the ways that something this expensive and complex should be. Bose just isn't a good brand of audio, and I don't know why GM sticks with them. The Revel Ultima system in Lincolns is seriously impressive regardless of what you compare it to.

I find it very sad that Cadillac is throwing away what they have worked so hard to build, in the quest for zero, zero, zero. They could walk and chew gum at the same time, but have chosen not to.

If the CTS Vsport was AWD, it would still be on my sons short list (it was until he dealt with really bad weather in my Explorer, now, AWD only). They are a great bargain, and Cadillac could have gotten a new fan.

First, two idiot "auto evaluators" since I refuse to call them "journalists" who know nothing about the vehicle they are disrespecting other than the notes they read as they talk about the car. These amateur "fly by night" bums are sprouting faster than weeds.

Since I have driven both the 2019 CT6 V, and the 2020 CT6 Platinum......I prefer the 2020 CT6 Platinum. Your down 50 Hp. with the Platinum, but you get all the amentities,,,,,,,,,,,
semi aniline leather in light cashmere
Super Cruise
dual zone hvac
Alcantara headliner
and, you can check the option box for the "J" wheel package and rear spoiler, ($2395.00) which i have on my 2018
CT6 Platinum.

I have a 2020 Platinum on order from several months ago. It's due to arrive in February. I plan to upgrade the brakes to CT6 V and have the engine
tweaked although you can kill yourself just as quickly with the 500hp.

One thing they are correct about.........the car is wickedly fast!

My window sticker total was $101,680.00..........and my out the door price will be about $12,000 off
that.......

Curious, What makes them idiots? And what was wrong or incorrect that was stated about the car? They both liked it a lot and they were making the video entertaining. The knocks they had against the car are pretty valid. For near enough 100k, You should have soft close doors, power side sunshades and side mirrors that don't shake when you close the door.

The CT5 gives you the Platinum option on the V (the semi-V), but we'll see what they do with the Blackwing. I think of the V as absolutely performance oriented but also luxury. Not sure where the line is. Luxury gizmos = weight = reduced performance.

I think at that level it should be your choice to have that weight. Actually be kind of cool if they list out the options and how much they weigh - I think in a car like this it would be cool and the clientele interested in such data. Plus in so doing it will tell the customer that Cadillac is paying attention to detail - kind of a nice marketing touch to make the sales experience more memorable.

Stunned that you don't like the name
You're always so positive about all things Cadillac.

What's so terrible about it? And it is the engine, not the car. But I'd call it Blackwing if I had one.

I guess it's just not as clever and appealing as A8, S Class, LS, or 7 Series.

Is the engine being shipped to China now?

It's probably too big to fit in any of the XTs, even without the turbos. A V8 of any kind would go a long way to make their CUVs special. Just to get people into the showroom. 90% will probably settle for the V6, particularly since they wouldn't offer a better engine without every other option required.

"Extremely limited availability" for the 2020 model, according to Cadillac.com
