Re: 2019 Silverado "Revolutionary Enhancement" wheelbase/cab/box rationalization.
Isn't it due for a new frame? Or that just the HD's

I think its a typo, should be revelationary, as in someone had a revelation and realized this is what should have came out 2 years ago. This is supposed to be "revolutionary"?
Real people cannot sit back there? Nearly 35" of leg room is more than many compact sedans have. This myth should be busted...the traditional doors are a huge improvement.Double Cab; a.k.a. “Lifestyle Cab”. As in, real people can't sit back there anyway, who's idea was it to put miniature forward swing doors, so lets make it 3" shorter so people will stop trying.
OK, OK, let me clarify............ "as in real people (or large items) can't easily get in and out of the back"Real people cannot sit back there? Nearly 35" of leg room is more than many compact sedans have. This myth should be busted...the traditional doors are a huge improvement.
Thanks for commenting Ed.
The revelator was me

I had been kicking around a number of complaints about what I - and other GMIers - have been asking for in the restyled Silvy.
1. Double Cab only comes with one bed.
2. Regular Cab too small.
3. Only the 143.5 WB chassis has more than one bed/box combo. Everything else is one 'model' per wheelbase.
4. Eight foot box available only on Regular Cab
5. Double cab door handles took away 'sleek' styling of Extended Cab.
6. Bay type doors superior for behind seat stowage function.
7. Cries for a return of Avalanche. Shorter wheelbase CC short box mimics Avalanche but doesn't compete so closely with Suburban.
8. Long held desire for a Blazer return answered with 121" DC short box. Offers Blazer's functionality and passenger space - doesn't compete with Tahoe.
I wanted this to be a bill of particulars that shows *exactly* how we could use 'what we already have' - the 52" overhang of the 8ft Long Box, even the same 153" wheelbase of the CC Standard Box, same basic frame and chassis components - to cut one of the wheelbase lengths (current RC 8ft) but yield two additional 'models' or cab/box combos.
I think the big objection to this would be that *all* the cabs should be longer. The problem there is that ruins the 'rationalization' because if we take the 19" difference between the current long box and standard and project that to short box we end up with a ridiculously long Crew Cab combined with a comically short short box of only 60."
The extra wide opening does not help you when you are trapped from the privileged folk taking their sweet time to open the doors in front. Bay doors are a pain in the ass.OK, OK, let me clarify............ "as in real people (or large items) can't easily get in and out of the back"
Like the myth that this is harder to get into the GMT900 Extended Cab than a K2XX Double-cab? :lmao:
(Enjoy your Double-Cab) :yup:
(also note the front doors are now almost 3" shorter too)
Well until you are a big boy and allowed to sit up front, you just have to be sure and set the stage, you see when you get in the back, they can't close their door, until you close yours a little quid quo pro....... I'll close my door, so you can close yours and when we stop, you open yours so I can open mine. :yup:The extra wide opening does not help you when you are trapped from the privileged folk taking their sweet time to open the doors in front. Bay doors are a pain in the ass.
For GM?. Yes!This is supposed to be "revolutionary"?
I'm trying to envision the proportions of a regular cab with a 10 inch bed.Regular cab 10" bed.
